Kids&#8217; Bathroom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I wish we could just sit down together with a cup of tea, and I could tell you all that&#8217;s going on at our new place.\u00a0 But since that&#8217;s not going to happen, this is the next best thing.\u00a0 Today I want to show you where we are headed with the kids&#8217; bathroom on the third floor.\u00a0 Just to remind you, the third floor is one of the reasons we bought <a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2018\/01\/03\/first-floor-tour-of-the-townhouse\/\">our new place.<\/a>\u00a0 It will be a perfect space for our grandkids to sleep, play, and hang out.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a small bathroom up there with a shower, skylight, and nice linen closet, and I&#8217;m going to have a little fun with it.\u00a0 All of the other bathrooms will have the same tiles, cabinets, countertops, and faucets.\u00a0 While this room will have the same faucet design, it will be different in other ways.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">(before demo)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The third floor was once an attic, and so I am treating the bathroom as if it is in an old attic space.\u00a0 First off, everything from the old bathroom has been removed, including the soffit, and the old skylight was replaced with a new one when the new roof was installed.\u00a0 So, right now it is a blank canvas.\u00a0 It is a small bath and so there will be a small shower, a toilet, a and a sink.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a nice linen closet with lots of shelves so we will have a place for toiletries and linens.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p the tile for the floor, shower floor, and shower walls than on any other decision I have made for the house so far.\u00a0 I wanted it to look like an old attic bath floor, but I just was having trouble coming up with a combination that I liked.\u00a0 I am not using traditional 3 x 6 inch subway tile, and so that automatically limits my choices.\u00a0 It seems as if everything is made to go with subway tile.What I chose for the floor is this 12 x 24 porcelain tile by Daltile.\u00a0 I has the look of Carrara marble without the attitude.\u00a0 My decorating friend said the larger tile will make the room appear larger.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38646\" by Daltile will go on the shower floor.\u00a0 I love it.\u00a0 All of the tile has a honed finish so it won&#8217;t be slippery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wayfair.com\/home-improvement\/pdp\/american-standard-portsmouth-30-single-vanity-base-asd9750.html\">this wonderful vanity base<\/a>.\u00a0 If you have young children in your household and are planning to redo a bathroom, then you will love knowing about this vanity.\u00a0 The base pulls out and becomes a step for children to stand on.\u00a0 That eliminates the need for a step stool that might topple over, and it will keep the kids from standing on a pulled out drawer.\u00a0 Yikes!\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wayfair.com\/home-improvement\/pdp\/american-standard-portsmouth-31-single-bathroom-vanity-top-asd4163.html\">sink top is just white porcelain<\/a> and is sold Victorian line by Delta<\/a>.\u00a0 Our finish will be chrome like the photo.\u00a0 We actually had it in our last house, and I loved it then and still do.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: bathrooms would have had beadboard, we are installing classic beadboard either half or three-fourths of the way up the wall.\u00a0 Our rental apartment is over 100 years old, and the owners kept some of the original beadboard when they remodeled our unit last fall.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a timeless look that I love.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" will add some navy and white gingham wallpaper or a navy ticking stripe wallpaper.\u00a0 Navy, which is my favorite color, will be sprinkled throughout the house.\u00a0 We showed you this photo, which is from BHG, in the Saturday Selections a few weeks ago.\u00a0 The gingham wall is painted, but I don&#8217;t have the skills, patience, or desire to paint that pattern on our walls.\u00a0 So, we will
