I am back today with more talk and thoughts on our new kitchen.\u00a0 If you are wondering what I am talking about, then this post <\/a>will help.\u00a0 I had forgotten how many elements and decisions go into planning a good kitchen.\u00a0 After all, it is the heart of the home, and having it work with you and for you makes meal prep so much easier and more enjoyable.\u00a0 So far here on the blog, we have talked about the cabinet design, the back splash, and the cabinet colors.\u00a0 Today, let’s talk about the fan hood.\u00a0 It can be demure and serviceable, or it can be the star of the show.\u00a0 I have decided that the fan hood will be the star of our kitchen, and I can’t wait to show you.\u00a0 I think you will like it.<\/p>\n

Fans hoods can make such a difference in a kitchen.\u00a0 Look at Jordan’s kitchen, for example.\u00a0 This is the fan before Yankee built a hood for it.<\/p>\n

\"Spring<\/p>\n

And here it is after.\u00a0 What a difference that hood makes in her kitchen.\u00a0 It fits in so nicely with her Shaker style cabinets. (Go here<\/a> to read about the painted back splash.)<\/p>\n

\"Fall<\/p>\n

The hood in our current kitchen is one that I have really liked over the years.\u00a0 Like Jordan’s, it hides the fan, but it has a different shape while still providing a ledge for decorative items like a colorful plate.\u00a0 It is more ornate and goes well with the raised panel cabinets.<\/p>\n

Fans can be used as a statement piece in a kitchen, for sure.\u00a0 For instance, look at this one blogger Emily A. Clark<\/a> had fabricated for her new kitchen.\u00a0 Since her ceilings are eight feet high, it is attached directly to the ceiling.<\/p>\n

Our friend Carmel, who blogs at Our Fifth House<\/a>, makes a statement in her kitchen with a black hood.\u00a0 She’s a lover of red, black, and blush pink together.<\/p>\n

Here is a barrel hood that is another variation on the hood in Emily’s kitchen.\u00a0 There’s a lot going on in this kitchen.<\/p>\n

And finally, this hood appears to be stucco.\u00a0 It seems to be a supporting actor while the back splash is the star.<\/p>\n

So, you can see, there’s lots to consider when selecting a fan hood for our new kitchen.\u00a0 I would love to hear your input.<\/p>\n
