{"id":37890,"date":"2018-01-21T19:00:36","date_gmt":"2018-01-22T00:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=37890"},"modified":"2018-01-17T14:24:42","modified_gmt":"2018-01-17T19:24:42","slug":"things-i-wont-put-in-our-new-place","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=37890","title":{"rendered":"Things I Won&#8217;t Put in Our New Place"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have been deep into thinking about how our new place will look and function and have probably been spending way too much time reading decorating blogs, Houzz, and Pinterest.\u00a0 There are a few things that we did here that I won&#8217;t be doing in our new place, and I thought you might like to know what they are.\u00a0 Now, I should point out that I don&#8217;t know yet what the different choice will be on all of them, but they will be different.\u00a0 So, here we go.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-28372\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_1495-682x1024.jpg\" alt=\"kitchen - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"961\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_1495-682x1024.jpg 682w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_1495-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_1495-300x451.jpg 300w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_1495-900x1352.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Refrigerator<\/h2>\n<p>I know for sure that we will not have a Kitchenaid fridge at our new place.\u00a0 I have not liked our refrigerator since the first day we moved in.\u00a0 In fact, I wrote a blog post about it that you can read <a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2013\/02\/27\/buyer-beware\/\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 I think our refrigerator was designed by someone who doesn&#8217;t cook or spend much time in the kitchen.\u00a0\u00a0 The design is horrible, and the quality is also bad.\u00a0 In just six years time, we have had to replace the ice maker and the main control panel.\u00a0 Those are the two main functioning components in the fridge, and they both broke and cost us plenty to replace them.\u00a0 So, in addition to being poorly designed, it is poorly made.\u00a0 At this point, I don&#8217;t have a clue which brand we will be using in our new place.\u00a0 A few months ago, you all gave me some brands to try, but Mr. Right wants to read up on Consumer Reports opinion, too.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-37891\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screen-Shot-2018-01-17-at-1.52.05-PM.png\" alt=\"Townhouse master bath - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"964\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screen-Shot-2018-01-17-at-1.52.05-PM.png 360w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screen-Shot-2018-01-17-at-1.52.05-PM-215x323.png 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screen-Shot-2018-01-17-at-1.52.05-PM-300x452.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Bathroom Floors<\/h2>\n<p>I have loved having heated marble floors in three of our bathrooms, but for our new place, I am going to go with heated porcelain floors in the baths.\u00a0 During our travels we have seen many, many marble floors in museums, historic homes, temples, churches, etc., and they have looked great.\u00a0 Thousands of people have walked on them, and they have patina and etching and just ooze with history and personality.\u00a0 That is all fine in a museum, but I just freaked out when a stain or etching showed up on our bathroom floors.\u00a0 For some reason, I want them to look\/be pristine, and marble etches.\u00a0 I definitely have some OCD, and when it comes to our marble floors, it kicks up into high gear.\u00a0 I know they are clean, but I want them to look clean, too.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-37893\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screen-Shot-2018-01-17-at-1.58.05-PM.png\" alt=\"Townhouse kitchen - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"850\" height=\"568\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screen-Shot-2018-01-17-at-1.58.05-PM.png 811w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screen-Shot-2018-01-17-at-1.58.05-PM-430x287.png 430w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screen-Shot-2018-01-17-at-1.58.05-PM-768x513.png 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screen-Shot-2018-01-17-at-1.58.05-PM-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>White Kitchen Sink<\/h2>\n<p>I am not truly committed to this decision yet, but I think I might forgo a white kitchen sink in our new place.\u00a0 When we remodeled the kitchen in our last place, we had a stainless steel sink installed, and it was just fine.\u00a0 It was easy to clean and was resilient to scratches.\u00a0 The white farmhouse sink that we have in this house is pristine and looks brand new because I have treated it with tender loving care.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure I want to be that careful any more.\u00a0 I gently put pots and pans in it, and before I ever wash something that won&#8217;t fit in the dishwasher, I pull out pads and place them in the bottom of the sink so it won&#8217;t get scratches and dings.\u00a0 Frankly, I am tired of being that careful.\u00a0 You will be the first to know which way I go on this, but as of this moment, I am leaning toward stainless.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-34162\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3895-682x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Laundry room update - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"961\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3895-682x1024.jpg 682w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3895-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3895-300x451.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Washer\/Dryer Without Risers<\/h2>\n<p>We had risers under the washer and dryer in our last house, and it was so much easier to do laundry.\u00a0 When we remodeled this house, we opted to have cabinets installed above the washer and dryer.\u00a0 On moving day, we discovered that the cabinets meant we would have to remove the risers under those two appliances.\u00a0 I really haven&#8217;t liked bending over again and again to put clothes in the washer, then put them in the dryer, then remove them from the dryer.\u00a0 Having risers made all of that so much easier, so our new washer and dryer will have risers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18884\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/IMG_3169-681x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Townhouse front door\" width=\"640\" height=\"961\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/IMG_3169-681x1024.jpg 681w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/IMG_3169-215x323.jpg 215w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Storm Door<\/h2>\n<p>Our new place does not have or need a storm door.\u00a0 In our current house, there is no overhang or roof over our front porch which means we have a storm door that provides protection.\u00a0 If we didn&#8217;t have a storm door, the actual front door would get wet every time it rains.\u00a0 Then the paint would probably peel, and the door would wear out faster.\u00a0 Having a storm door means that it is tough to hang a wreath there because it interferes with the mail person when mail is delivered, and it gets in the way of people trying to make a smooth entrance into our home.
