{"id":36900,"date":"2017-10-17T18:00:35","date_gmt":"2017-10-17T23:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=36900"},"modified":"2017-10-17T20:04:47","modified_gmt":"2017-10-18T01:04:47","slug":"six-tips-for-sweater-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=36900","title":{"rendered":"Six Tips for Sweater Care"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you are like me, you freeze most of the winter.\u00a0 I find that I am always wearing several layers during the cold weather months just to be comfortable.\u00a0 I have mostly washable layers, but I also have a stack of wool or cashmere sweaters that I wear regularly.\u00a0 These sweaters can&#8217;t be tossed in the washer and dryer like most other clothing.\u00a0 They require special attention in order to stay clean and fresh.\u00a0 Since I don&#8217;t like paying the dry cleaner to keep my sweaters clean, I have a tried and true alternative method.\u00a0 I wouldn&#8217;t be a true friend if I didn&#8217;t share it with you.\u00a0 Right?\u00a0 So, come along and learn my tips on how to care for your sweaters.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-36962\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Sweater-Care-Tips-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Six Tips for Sweater Care - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Sweater-Care-Tips-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Sweater-Care-Tips-242x323.jpg 242w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Sweater-Care-Tips-300x400.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Dry Clean at Home<\/h2>\n<p>At the beginning of every fall when I am switching my closet from summer clothes to fall\/winter clothes, I clean my sweaters at home.\u00a0 I buy an at-home dry cleaning kit and use it according to package directions.\u00a0 I have used both the (this is not an ad) \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00JIRB0FU\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=B00JIRB0FU&amp;linkId=a888c8f227830ca4a2adcb7959500270\">Woolite<\/a> brand and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B01BUNJ2HW\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=B01BUNJ2HW&amp;linkId=584ff717aab953ee46aafa97eade10b5\">Dryel<\/a> brand, and I think <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B01BUNJ2HW\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=B01BUNJ2HW&amp;linkId=584ff717aab953ee46aafa97eade10b5\">Dryel <\/a>works more efficiently.\u00a0 I like its fragrance, and it comes with a bag that I can put the sweaters in before tossing them into the clothes dryer.\u00a0 It even has a spot cleaner. But before I put them in the dryer with the product, I check each sweater for snags, holes, or stains and treat them accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-36958\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Laundry-Room-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Laundry Room - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"853\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Laundry-Room-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Laundry-Room-242x323.jpg 242w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Laundry-Room-300x400.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These products can clean about five sweaters at a time, and they just take 15 to 20 minutes in the dryer. Once they are clean and folded, I stack them in my closet.\u00a0 There are some other steps that I follow for the care of my sweaters.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-35857\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/IMG_3937-682x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Janette - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"961\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/IMG_3937-682x1024.jpg 682w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/IMG_3937-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/IMG_3937-300x451.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/h2>\n<h2>Layer Up<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I never let my skin actually touch the body of a sweater.\u00a0 Every fall I buy a package of six size small men&#8217;s white cotton tee shirts.\u00a0 I love the feel of cotton against my skin and wear one under everything in the fall and winter.\u00a0 Not only do these tee shirts help keep me warm, but they keep my sweaters clean longer.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t have to worry about body odors and oils getting on my sweaters.\u00a0 They&#8217;re getting on the washable tee shirts instead.\u00a0 This simple step keeps my sweaters clean longer.\u00a0 Now, if you would get too hot wearing a cotton tee, try a camisole or a thinsulate layer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-26622 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_0143-681x1024.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Pre- Wash Spray\" width=\"640\" height=\"961\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_0143-681x1024.jpg 681w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_0143-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_0143-300x450.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Spot Clean<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When I take my sweaters off at night, I check to make sure I have not gotten anything on them during the day.\u00a0 I look for stray hairs, food stains, ink stains, or any other smudges.\u00a0 If I find something, I put a dry paper towel under the stain.\u00a0 I then dampen another paper towel with our <a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2015\/03\/09\/diy-laundry-pre-wash-spray\/\">DIY pre-wash spray<\/a>.\u00a0 Then I just gently dab the stain till it disappears.\u00a0 I dab off any remaining solution and then let it air out in the <a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2017\/02\/12\/update-in-the-laundry-room\/\">laundry room<\/a> till the next morning when it has dried.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-34169\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3890-682x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Laundry tips - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"961\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3890-682x1024.jpg 682w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3890-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3890-300x451.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Air Out<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If I don&#8217;t find any smudges or stains on my sweater, then I drape it over the drying pole in our laundry room to air out overnight.\u00a0 It&#8217;s the same rod where I hang my freshly ironed clothes.\u00a0 Sometimes I will spritz a fabric spray like Febreeze on it just to freshen it up a little.\u00a0 The next morning I fold the sweater and place it on a sweater shelf.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-36959\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Sweaters-tips-1-980x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Sweater tips - the 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"669\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Sweaters-tips-1-980x1024.jpg 980w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Sweaters-tips-1-309x323.jpg 309w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Sweaters-tips-1-300x314.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Organize Your Sweaters<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t just put all of the sweaters together on the shelves.\u00a0 I separate them according to turtle neck sweaters, cardigans, and crew necks. I also <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">try<\/span> (but it doesn&#8217;t always happen) to keep like colors together.\u00a0 These steps help me put my hands on the one I want much faster when getting dressed.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a simple step that helps my closet stay organized and helps me to be ready faster.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-36957\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/SweaterClothesLaundry-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Sweater tips - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"853\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/SweaterClothesLaundry-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/SweaterClothesLaundry-242x323.jpg 242w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/SweaterClothesLaundry-300x400.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Use a Shower Cap<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I think this last tip is a great one, and I don&#8217;t remember where I learned it.\u00a0 You know those shower caps that are always in hotel rooms?\u00a0 Well, I keep one in my closet, and when it is time to pull a sweater over my head, I put the shower cap over my face.
