If you have been with us for a while, then you know that I like to use things I have on hand when decorating for a season or a holiday.\u00a0 I am not one to go to a big box store and buy a lot of stuff that represents a particular holiday.\u00a0 Using items that I have on hand makes decorating so much more fun for me because I get to put my creative juices to work.\u00a0 That being said, I really like the way our home is looking this fall.\u00a0 It’s my favorite season, which has been mentioned on here way too much, and I think our place looks its best in the fall.\u00a0 I think the fall colors go so well with our neutrals and navy.\u00a0 Think about it – orange and navy, green and navy, brown and navy.\u00a0 Yes, yes, and yes.\u00a0 So, come along and see the small touches that I added to our great room to give it a taste of fall.<\/p>\n

You saw snippets of this room when I showed you the pillows<\/a> that I made for fall.\u00a0 Now let’s take a look at the simple fall accessories that I added.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Fall on the coffee table<\/h2>\n

Here’s a vignette I made for the coffee table.\u00a0 It is in a galvanized tray which complements the dining area’s centerpiece.\u00a0 Shortly after taking this photo, I changed the green book for a blue book.<\/p>\n

Fall in the eating area<\/h2>\n

This is the eating area in our great room.\u00a0 I bought a plain table runner at Ikea for $7.00 and painted a brown French ticking stripe on one side.\u00a0 My intention originally was to paint stripes on both sides, but the texture of the fabric is rough, and the fabric paint ran under the tape.\u00a0 I looked at some photos of French ticking, and there are all kinds of stripes so I knew I could stop painting lines any time I wanted to.\u00a0 I topped the ticking with a galvanized caddy that Jordan handed down to me.\u00a0 In the summer I use it to carry things to our patio when we eat outside.\u00a0 However, it makes a great caddy for gourds, don’t you think?\u00a0 There are real and faux gourds in the caddy along with some fake leaves.\u00a0 The real gourds, the runner, and the leaves are the only things I purchased for this room.<\/p>\n

Originally I had wooden candle holders with the brown candles, but Jordan sent a text telling me they weren’t big enough.\u00a0 I polished up our big silver candle holders and put the brown candles in them.\u00a0 I like the combo of the industrial galvanized metal along with the silver.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The last time you saw my wooden African bowl, it was holding moss balls<\/a>.\u00a0 They are on a break now, and I filled it with white pumpkins, votive candles in amber holders, and some more of those fake leaves.\u00a0 I love how this looks with the blue and white ginger jar.<\/p>\n

\u00a0I scattered some pumpkins around the room like this one in our book shelves.<\/p>\n

Fall on the mantel<\/h2>\n

Our television is over the mantel, and what you can’t tell in this photo is that Mr. Right was watching a football game when I was taking pictures.\u00a0 That’s why it’s cropped so closely.\u00a0 I had to put something on the mantel that would not interfere with the screen, so I just lined up some small pumpkins, votives, a few books in fall colors, two big lanterns and more leaves.<\/p>\n

Here’s another angle unedited.\u00a0 Ha!\u00a0 See……we really do live in our house.<\/p>\n

That’s a wrap for the great room.\u00a0 You can see that my fall decor will last until Thanksgiving, and that’s a win-win for me.\u00a0\u00a0 Up next is the kitchen.<\/p>\n
