I was shopping for pillows a few weeks ago so I could update the great room sofa for spring.\u00a0 After looking and loving so many pillows, I walked away empty-handed.\u00a0 It wasn’t that I didn’t want to buy something.\u00a0 The problem was that I didn’t want to find storage for more pillows.\u00a0 I decided that instead of buying new ones, I would sew new DIY pillows for spring using this method<\/a>.\u00a0 Then I could use the down pillow forms that I already own, and when it is time to change out the pillows for summer, I can simply remove the covers, fold them, and tuck them away into a closet or drawer.<\/p>\n

I love paisley, and I found this really pretty paisley in pastel colors at Hobby Lobby.<\/p>\n

Since I was using a contrasting fabric on the back, I only needed to purchase one yard to make two pillows that measure 22 inches square.\u00a0 (The fabric was 54 inches wide.)<\/p>\n

I paired the new pillows with some that I already owned – two navies and a yellow.\u00a0 The navy might not be a spring color, but it pulls out the navy in the paisley pillows.\u00a0 And since I have navy in every room in the house to keep it all tied together, it makes sense to have some on the sofa, too.<\/p>\n

I’m really happy with the way these pillows add a spring vibe to our great room.\u00a0 I’ve added some other accessories around tthe house to lighten the look and have even done a big refresher in the foyer.\u00a0 I will share that one with you soon.<\/p>\n
