When Yankee and I worked up our plans for our <a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2016\/11\/13\/our-new-kitchen-hood\/\">DIY fan hood<\/a>, I requested a shelf to be part of the design.\u00a0 I wanted a place to put art, wreaths, and seasonal decorations.\u00a0 The hood is so pretty that having nothing there is also a nice option.\u00a0\u00a0 In fact, the shelf has been bare since I removed our Christmas wreath back in December, and I loved the way it looked.\u00a0 Having the shelf is almost like having a second mantel to play with.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-34565\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_1428-733x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Spring look on the fan hood\" width=\"640\" height=\"894\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_1428-733x1024.jpg 733w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_1428-231x323.jpg 231w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_1428-300x419.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>However, with spring arriving next week, I wanted to spiff up a few areas of our house, and that shelf was one of those spots.\u00a0 I bought two blue and white vases at HomeGoods and added some greenery\u00a0to them.\u00a0 I thought that was enough, but when I texted a photo of it to Mom, she suggested that I add a piece of art.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-34566\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_1436-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Spring mantel for the kitchen\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_1436-683x1024.jpg 683w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_1436-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_1436-300x450.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Little did she know that the art would be one of her hand-me-downs.\u00a0 The colorful squares that are framed in a silver frame add just the right amount of color.\u00a0 Mom used it in the condo my parents had in Toronto for a while.\u00a0 I thought that I was finished with it, and it was literally in my pile to take to Goodwill.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-34564\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_1451-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Spring Mantel for Kitchen\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_1451-683x1024.jpg 683w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_1451-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_1451-300x450.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>It&#8217;s a good thing I saved it from that pile because it is the just the right touch to pull all of our colors together. \u00a0A day after I took the pictures, I realized I had some forsythia.\u00a0 I swapped out\u00a0 the greenery for the bright burst of yellow, but when forsythia season is over, I&#8217;ll bring the greenery back.\u00a0 I think the forsythia adds an even cheerier feel to the kitchen for spring.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t you?<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Cheers!<\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First of all, thanks to everyone who weighed in about the sofa debate.\u00a0 Stay tuned&#8230;..
