Happy Monday! \u00a0A few weeks ago I revealed our new sun room to you here<\/a><\/span>. \u00a0Since then we have unpacked almost all of our moving boxes, and I unearthed some art that I hung in that room.<\/h3>\n

Take a look.<\/h3>\n

I bought this sweet magazine cover at the Scott’s Antique Show in Atlanta a few years ago. \u00a0She was on the screened-in porch at our last house. \u00a0This little corner of our sun room is perfect for her.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

As you can see, it is the cover of an April, 1915 cover of Woman’s World<\/em>\u00a0magazine. \u00a0Note the price – only five cents!<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It features one of my favorite annuals, geraniums \u00a0Does anything say summer like seeing them bloom? \u00a0I am sure the professionals out there are gasping at my generic tastes, but they bring back good memories.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Isn’t her face angelic? \u00a0How many of you dress like that when you are gardening?????<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This is the magazine’s big question? \u00a0That question is timeless.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Here she is in on our kitchen rug before I hung her.<\/h3>\n

HINT: \u00a0The black mat had faded to gray from its years of sun exposure on our last porch. \u00a0It was an easy problem to solve. \u00a0I simply took it apart, spray painted the mat to its original black and returned everything back to the frame. \u00a0Easy fix.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

On the left side of the French doors, I have hung these two interesting botanicals. \u00a0They were in the guest room at our last house, but they look great here in the sun room. \u00a0I bought them, but they would be so easy to make.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

All you would need is some dried plants, flowers, or weeds (this one is goldenrod), a fountain pen, some nice handwriting, and the plants’ original scientific names. \u00a0Or, better yet, you could use your computer to print out the info in a nice old-fashioned font. \u00a0Notice on this background paper that you can even see smudges which make it look very old.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Isn’t the handwriting pretty? \u00a0If you can do calligraphy, this would be a perfect place to use it.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This is a close-up of the mate. \u00a0The yellow age spots are evident in this one, too. \u00a0I am not sure what this plant is, but it might be in the Queen Anne’s lace family.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Once again, it has the scientific name. \u00a0I think the hardest part about a project like this would be waiting because the flora would have to be dried before it could be mounted and framed.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Perfection was not the goal for this art. \u00a0Plant fronds look as if they have just been tossed onto the paper before the frame was enclosed.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The frames are made of very rustic wood with some green paint rubbed on. \u00a0If I remember correctly, these cost around $70 each. \u00a0Using greenery and discarded frames from your attic, it could be recreated for free.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This mirror hangs on the wall opposite the items I just showed you. \u00a0It is an original work of art that I bought at a charity auction.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It is very whimsical.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It is also very heavy.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

He lost one of his shoe buttons in the move.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/h3>\n

The artist used her welding skills.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I was very lucky to buy this mirror. \u00a0It was in the corner of the silent auction by itself. \u00a0When I discovered it at the end of the evening, no one else had made a bid. \u00a0I put in a ridiculously low offer, and crossed my fingers.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The auction ended, and bingo! It was mine. \u00a0Don’t you just love when that happens?<\/h3>\n

I think you will agree that these art selections that we are using in the sun room fit that kind of space perfectly. \u00a0They are original in their own way, and they capture the same outdoor\/garden theme.<\/h3>\n
