{"id":33843,"date":"2017-01-17T19:09:56","date_gmt":"2017-01-18T00:09:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=33843"},"modified":"2017-01-17T19:09:56","modified_gmt":"2017-01-18T00:09:56","slug":"visiting-the-african-american-museum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=33843","title":{"rendered":"Visiting the African American Museum"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>I had a birthday last week and spent it in Washington, DC with Mr. Right.\u00a0 We flew there to stay with our son Cory and our daughter-in-law Josie for a few days.\u00a0 Then Mr. Right flew to Europe for business, and I headed\u00a0 to New York City for a few days.\u00a0 This birthday was very special because the family made it all about me.\u00a0 None of them worked that day so that together we could do anything that I wanted to do.\u00a0 That meant so much to me.\u00a0 I wanted to do certain things, but I also wanted to make sure that we did things that all of us would enjoy.\u00a0 I thought that visiting the <a href=\"https:\/\/nmaahc.si.edu\/\">African American Museum<\/a> would be a good start to the day, and it was.\u00a0 We spent five hours there and could have stayed many hours more.\u00a0 Than we saw &#8220;<em>La La Land<\/em>&#8220;, which I loved.\u00a0 We ended the day with dinner at my favorite DC restaurant, <a href=\"http:\/\/lediplomatedc.com\/\">Le Diplomate<\/a>. I learned it is owned by the same company that owns Parc, the restaurant I mentioned in <a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2017\/01\/03\/our-trip-to-philadelphia\/\">this post<\/a>.<\/h3>\n<h3><!--more--><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-33901\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/IMG_6530-e1484682207764-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"African American Museum - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"850\" height=\"638\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/IMG_6537-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/IMG_6537-430x323.jpg 430w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/IMG_6537-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>We had a one-on-one with executive chef Jerome Grant.\u00a0 He talked to us about 15 minutes and gave us some fascinating statistics.\u00a0 For instance, they serve 1,200 pounds of chicken every two days.\u00a0 On their busiest day, they served 6,000 people.\u00a0 They take great pride in the food, and the selections are served based on regions of the country &#8211; the Creole Coast, the North States, the Agricultural South, and the Western Range. \u00a0 For instance, the selections in the southern section included fried chicken, collard greens, mac and cheese and more.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-33904\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/IMG_6535-e1484682285111-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"African American museum -
