We have a simple little Christmas craft for you today that would be fun to make with your family over the long weekend coming up.\u00a0 I saw a version of this sign in Belgium, but it said Xmas.\u00a0 Since we put Christ in Christmas, I decided instead to make a DIY Noel sign.\u00a0 That’s part of the beauty of this project.\u00a0 You can make it using any holiday term you want.\u00a0 It is similar to this sign<\/a> that I made a few years ago.\u00a0 I add that one to the Christmas decor every season, and I am sure that will happen to the Noel sign, too.\u00a0 This year I’m going to go with a rustic\/country Christmas, and this new sign will fit right in.\u00a0 Once you see how easy it is to pull this off, you might want to make one, too.<\/h3>\n

All you need to do is pick the word you want to use, and buy paper mache letters at your favorite craft store.\u00a0 They can be any size, and since I knew they would be on our rustic shelves in the kitchen, the letters I chose are eight inches tall.\u00a0 Then you just need to paint two of the letters, if you are using a four letter word.\u00a0 If your word has more letters, than you can just decide how many you want to paint.<\/h3>\n

I used chalk paint because I had plenty on hand, but any regular paint or craft paint would work well, too.\u00a0 It’s a very forgiving project.\u00a0 After the paint dries, just sand it off so some of the cardboard will peek through.<\/h3>\n

Then just attach some little embellishments to the letters with a glue gun.<\/h3>\n

And that’s all there is to it.\u00a0 Aren’t they cute? Don’t get the idea from this post that we have started decorating yet because we are both holding off until after Thanksgiving.\u00a0 I did, however, do something today I swore I would never do.<\/span>\u00a0 I bought an artificial tree.\u00a0 My thought is that since our weather has been so dry this fall, the real trees will probably be dry.\u00a0 Also, we are going to be in and out of town a lot in December, and I wouldn’t be here to water a live tree on a regular basis.\u00a0 And finally, since I am putting a tree up earlier than usual, it needs to look perky the whole month.\u00a0 Do you do real or faux trees?<\/h3>\n
