{"id":32821,"date":"2016-10-09T18:00:08","date_gmt":"2016-10-09T23:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=32821"},"modified":"2016-10-09T16:50:30","modified_gmt":"2016-10-09T21:50:30","slug":"how-to-make-a-corduroy-place-mats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=32821","title":{"rendered":"How To Make  Corduroy Place Mats"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>One of the things that I love about fall is the clothes.\u00a0 I love the cashmere sweaters, the flannel plaid shirts, the suede jackets,\u00a0 and corduroy pants.\u00a0 I just love putting on an inviting pair of cozy corduroy pants along with a warm sweater and taking a stroll on a cool day.\u00a0 Corduroy fabric and fall just seem to go together.\u00a0 Last week in the <a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2016\/10\/05\/fall-table-setting\/\">fall table setting\u00a0 we <\/a>showed you, I used corduroy place mats as the starting off point.\u00a0 After reading our post, my friend Kate asked me where I bought them, and I responded that I had made it.\u00a0 Then I googled corduroy place mats and learned there aren&#8217;t many choices out there.\u00a0 The ones I did find didn&#8217;t seem to be nearly as nice as the ones I had made.\u00a0 So, we thought you might enjoy a little tutorial on how to make your own corduroy place mats.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-32784\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_3436-682x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Fall tablescape - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"961\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_3436-682x1024.jpg 682w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_3436-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_3436-300x451.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>I used this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B01G460PG2\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=B01G460PG2&amp;linkId=9c4d59346db6f0d78ad1c0b17ca237b8\">wide wale corduroy<\/a> because I think wide wale is a softer version.\u00a0 I also used a neutral color, but it comes in other colors.\u00a0 Also, this corduroy is an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B01G460PG2\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=B01G460PG2&amp;linkId=9c4d59346db6f0d78ad1c0b17ca237b8\">upholstery fabric <\/a>which makes it more durable and wider.\u00a0 If you make these mats, how many place mats you want and how large you want them to be will determine how much fabric to order. The fabric is very durable, and I just throw them in the washer on gentle when they need to be cleaned.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-32826\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_5684-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Corduroy place mat - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"853\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_5684-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_5684-242x323.jpg 242w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_5684-300x400.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Okay, let&#8217;s get started.\u00a0 The first step is to cut out\u00a0 your place mats.\u00a0 I used one of the place mats that I already owned and used it as my pattern.\u00a0 Since I wanted the final size to be 12 inches by 18 inches, I cut the width and length a little wider and longer to allow for the seams.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-32827\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_5685-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Corduroy place mat\" width=\"640\" height=\"853\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_5685-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_5685-242x323.jpg 242w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_5685-300x400.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>The next (and final) step is the sewing.\u00a0 Just turn the sides in about 1\/4 inch and then turn them in again.
