Wow!\u00a0 It’s so hard to believe that we have been parents for four months, and today\u00a0we have our four month visit with our social worker. \u00a0Only the six month visit is left, and then we can proceed to the next step in the adoption process for Little Miss. \u00a0Adopting from each country is so different, and with Thailand, we still had a long process even after she was in our arms. \u00a0While she doesn’t legally have our name at the moment, I am okay with that since she is here with us.\u00a0 We are all loving every moment.<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

I enjoy going back and reading the monthly updates that we posted because it reminds me how far our little lady has come. \u00a0I still can’t even imagine myself in a country with new EVERYTHING and doing as great as she is doing. \u00a0The first question we get from so many people is her language. \u00a0It is coming along wonderfully, and each day we notice new words. \u00a0She tries to repeat everything we say, and you can tell she is absorbing so much. \u00a0Right now her favorite word seems to be “no” which I am guessing is typical of most two-year-old behavior. \u00a0The other day in the car she was telling her favorite stuffed animal and My Little Pony “no, no, no, no, no…” \u00a0She is now calling our dog Gracie “E,” and that is progress, as we went from “dog” to “name” and now “E”.\u00a0 It’s just the last syllable, but she’s getting close. \u00a0The only Thai word she still says in “Chang” which is elephant, and I don’t blame her.\u00a0 It’s a lot easier to say than elephant!<\/h3>\n

This month was filled with lots of travel as we went on a trip to Oregon<\/a> and then Florida. \u00a0Little Miss is very observant around other children. She likes to watch every move but not get in the action. \u00a0In Oregon our friends have a new baby and a daughter who is a little older than our daughter. \u00a0Right off the bat they were friends, and ahhh, it was so fun to see. \u00a0They held hands and danced, traded necklaces, and were having the best time. \u00a0Seeing her play with other children and having the best time brought a big smile to our faces. \u00a0Little Miss was so curious about the baby and was trying to get a peek and see him every chance she could. \u00a0She was very gentle and\u00a0 kind with little one.<\/h3>\n

We have been spending lots of time at the pool, and we are amazed that she likes the water as much as she does. \u00a0When we were in Thailand, bath time was a trying time.\u00a0 She hated it and screamed the whole time. \u00a0We tried the pool in Thailand at the hotel, and finally, the last day she let me carry her into the pool. \u00a0I think because it was 116 degrees outside, and she realized this it was refreshing for at least a moment. \u00a0We joined the Charlotte YMCA system, and they have great pools.\u00a0 A couple of times each week I have been taking her, and each time she is more interested. \u00a0Now she gets so excited when we mention the pool, and she loves “swimming” around with her puddle jumper and spinning. \u00a0She has been trying to blow bubbles, and again, Yankee and I are shocked to see how much she loves the water. \u00a0We thought we would never get her into the pool.<\/h3>\n

Shortly after the trip to Oregon, we drove down to the Tampa, FL area to visit with family and enjoy some of the activities in the area. \u00a0This girl loves her zoos and animals. \u00a0We tried out the beach, and she loves the sand and playing with toys in the sand. \u00a0Big smiles on her face all around. Again it makes my heart just melt. \u00a0I love this girl so much.<\/h3>\n

While lots of it is fun and giggles, there is still some heartache. \u00a0Transitions at times can be difficult. \u00a0The moment she is in a new situation or if there are people around, she wants to be held. \u00a0Sometimes this only lasts for 30 seconds and other times longer. \u00a0She doesn’t realize we are her permanent family and that she is here\u00a0to stay. \u00a0This is where the holding comes into play. \u00a0When we met her, they made her walk into the hotel room and her social worker, who she had known since an early age, stopped holding her, and it was all up to us. \u00a0The social worker was around for a couple days to ease the transition, but it was all up to us to comfort and hold her. \u00a0We think at times that might trigger her, and if she goes into a new situation, she wants to be held to make sure we are not leaving her or sending her somewhere else. \u00a0It is still a long road, and we know how far she has come in this short amount of time. We will get there. \u00a0I know one day she won’t want to be held, so, I will soak up this time holding her and letting her know she is safe.<\/h3>\n

She is becoming Daddy’s little girl, and they love reading books together. In the beginning we never thought this never would happen, but it has happened! \u00a0 She is always bringing him books to read, and she sits on him and, they cuddle reading books. \u00a0Her favorites at the moment are “The\u00a0Very\u00a0Hungry Caterpiller<\/a>” and “The Lonely Firefly<\/a>“. \u00a0Her face lights up at the end of this book when she see the lights blinking. \u00a0(Thanks Jennifer!)<\/h3>\n

Thank you all for following along on our journey. \u00a0It has been a wild ride, and everyday I am so thankful for our daughter.\u00a0 It is going by fast. \u00a0She will be two in a few days (sniff, sniff) \u00a0so I am doing my best to soak up everything –\u00a0 the good and the tantrums.<\/h3>\n
