{"id":32165,"date":"2016-08-23T18:00:46","date_gmt":"2016-08-23T23:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=32165"},"modified":"2018-04-23T20:22:33","modified_gmt":"2018-04-24T01:22:33","slug":"painting-a-tile-back-splash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=32165","title":{"rendered":"Painting a Tile Back Splash"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Ever since we moved in, our intention was to paint the kitchen cabinets and change out the back splash.\u00a0 Well, Mom and I <a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2016\/04\/24\/my-painted-kitchen-cabinets\/\">painted the cabinets<\/a>, but nothing ever happened to the back splash.\u00a0 Dealing with the work and dirt of tearing out the old back splash and installing a new one was just not something Yankee and I were getting excited about.\u00a0 We <a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2012\/03\/04\/we-diyed-subway-tile\/\">added a back splash<\/a> to our kitchen in Syracuse, but that was a simple fix because there wasn&#8217;t an old one there in the first place to deal with.\u00a0 After talking to kitchen designer Debra Hupman, who advised Mom on <a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2015\/12\/02\/a-tour-of-my-kitchen\/\">updating her kitchen last year<\/a>, we learned that painting a tile back splash was an option.\u00a0 We read about it, talked to people about it, looked at Pinterest, and read blogs, and decided that painting was the option we would go with at this time.\u00a0 And finally, a year after moving in, our back splash is now white and wonderful.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>It all started one Friday night. \u00a0Little Miss was in bed, and I thought, &#8220;Let&#8217;s just do this.&#8221; I had everything I needed on hand.\u00a0 I shared this photo on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/the2seasonsblog\/\">Instagram<\/a>.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32255\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Insta-1.jpg\" alt=\"How to Paint your tile backsplash\" width=\"778\" height=\"778\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Insta-1.jpg 778w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Insta-1-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Insta-1-323x323.jpg 323w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Insta-1-75x75.jpg 75w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Insta-1-110x110.jpg 110w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Insta-1-275x275.jpg 275w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Insta-1-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Insta-1-144x144.jpg 144w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 778px) 100vw, 778px\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>First thing I did was really clean the tile. \u00a0I used Dawn soap to cut the grease, and then I took rubbing alcohol to really get at any remaining residue so I could apply an oil-based primer. \u00a0 After it dried, I added two coats of the same paint I used for the cabinets, Pure White semi-gloss latex by Sherwin Williams. \u00a0Voila! That was it. \u00a0I think this is my <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">easiest<\/span> project yet that gave us the most bang for the buck. \u00a0Why did I take so long to do it?<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-32254\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_0515-1024x707.jpg\" alt=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/the2seasonsblog\/\" width=\"640\" height=\"442\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_0515-1024x707.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_0515-430x297.jpg 430w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_0515-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Here it is\u00a0 &#8211;
