Hello, everyone.\u00a0 We mentioned in this post<\/a> a few weeks ago that we spent some time in DC with our son and daughter-in-law, Josie.\u00a0 She has great taste and is making their home a cozy and inviting spot.\u00a0 She loves a good estate sale, and we happened to find one on the Saturday afternoon when I was there.\u00a0 I found a set of great water colors for next to nothing.\u00a0 It was just a few hours until the sale ended, and they were at the “make an offer” point.\u00a0 I made a ridiculously low offer, and it was accepted.\u00a0 Don’t you just love when that happens?\u00a0 I sure do!<\/h3>\n

The actual art was in great condition, but the mats and frames needed some TLC.<\/h3>\n

I started by going to Hobby Lobby and having them cut two new mats for me, this time in a flat black.\u00a0 Then I mixed up some green using paints I had on hand and painted one side green.\u00a0 That little step gave me the option of having two mat colors to use.\u00a0 I used the green first, but I will have the option of using the black if I ever want to move them to another room or if I get tired of the green.<\/h3>\n

I freshened up the frames with some black spray paint.<\/h3>\n

Then it was just a matter of putting them together and hanging them.\u00a0 I am really pleased with the way they look in our guest room.\u00a0 The wall is a very, very soft yellow and the green goes nicely with it.<\/h3>\n
