When our blog was just a baby, we were new townhouse owners.\u00a0 One of my early projects was a pair of lamps I made from demi-johns that I purchased on ebay.\u00a0 It was easy to use two simple lamp kits<\/a> to make lamps, and\u00a0 I used them on the side board in our great room for a few years.\u00a0 Last year after I turned our kitchen hutch into a buffet<\/a>, I moved the lamps to the kitchen.\u00a0 The lamp shades, which I had custom-made, just didn’t work so well in the kitchen.\u00a0 They looked drab and dirty.\u00a0 So, I decided to have some new custom lamp shades made to add pizazz to the DIY lamps.<\/h3>\n

I ordered two yards of soft blue buffalo check<\/a> and had it shipped to the same lamp shop that made the original shades.<\/h3>\n

I decided to go with soft blue because it matches the kitchen ceiling.\u00a0 Colors and accessories are constantly changing in the kitchen, but two things remain untouched – the iceberg blue kitchen ceiling and the cow painting of Lulubelle.\u00a0 And by the way, how do you like the new paint job?\u00a0 After this fiasco<\/a>, we had to paint several rooms in our house.\u00a0 The color is stucco by Sherwin Williams, but I asked them to use 50 per cent of the pigment this time around.\u00a0 I am crazy about this color.\u00a0 It is a pure creamy white with no undertones of yellow, green, pink, blue, etc.\u00a0 It’s the same color I had in our rooms before, but the lower percentage of pigment makes it appear so fresh and bright.<\/h3>\n

I think the lamp new shades are a much-needed improvement.\u00a0 Don’t you?\u00a0 As I said in this post<\/a>, I would put buffalo check on everything if I could get away with it, but I think it’s good to stop while I’m ahead.<\/h3>\n
