One great thing about moving to the South was that we bought a house with a lot of porches.\u00a0 I was thrilled to have a front porch!\u00a0 However, our house not only has a front porch, but it also has a cocktail porch, a back porch, and a rendevous off of the master bedroom. \u00a0Our realtor told us the back porch will really be an extension of our living room, and I am now realizing that she was right.\u00a0 However, we sold our patio table and chairs before we moved because we knew the size and shape just weren’t right.\u00a0 Now buying new furniture that will work in the space we have is a priority so that we can get started on our back porch decorating.<\/h3>\n

This is how our back porch looked when were house shopping last fall, and it was one of the features we loved.\u00a0 It is really long, and the roof provides much-needed protection from the southern sun.\u00a0 That will be nice for those hot summer days.\u00a0 Currently it is covered in pollen, and I think we are not alone in that battle.\u00a0 We might not be spending a lot of time on it right now, but the pollen hasn’t stopped us from planning what we are going to do to the space.\u00a0 As much as I would love to add a fireplace, that won’t be happening anytime soon because we have some other things<\/a> going on.\u00a0 A girl can dream, though.<\/h3>\n

Looking at the space, I visualize having two areas – a dining area and a sitting area. \u00a0We have French doors on the right leading from our bonus room and a French door on the left from the great room.\u00a0 I don’t want to block either of them.\u00a0 I was reading Emily A Clark <\/a>one day, and she posted these pictures. They were exactly what I was visualizing in my head.<\/h3>\n

This table would be perfect for our long porch. \u00a0We ate outside on our patio<\/a> as much as we could in Syracuse, so I know we will do the same here. \u00a0The porch can handle a really long table. \u00a0I finally found one that I love and will work in our space.<\/h3>\n

The table<\/a> is a nice long table that will fill that space nicely, and the benches<\/a> will hold a lot of friends and family and tuck under the table when not in use. \u00a0Yankee and I thought it would be nice to have two chairs<\/a> on the ends and these are paired with the table but we are not 100% sure we will go with those. \u00a0I really wish I could sit on them first.\u00a0 Do you get nervous about buying furniture with out giving it a “test drive?”\u00a0 Hopefully, it will end up in the store soon.<\/h3>\n

For the other side of the porch I am loving this set up for a conversation area. \u00a0Due to the French doors and openness of the porch, I think four individual chairs will work better than a sofa. \u00a0Again we are looking for comfort and durability.<\/h3>\n

\"Wicker<\/p>\n

We happened to be in Home Depot the other day, and I liked the look of these wicker chairs<\/a> . I sat down, and wow, they were super comfy. \u00a0Yankee plopped down in another one, and we were hooked. \u00a0Since we are both tall, these were very comfortable, and they had multiple fabric options to chose from. \u00a0I just need to do some measuring to make sure I can get four of these bad boys on my porch.\u00a0 Another thing my inspiration photo has is some outdoor curtains. \u00a0I think these<\/a> would work great on our porch and actually provide a shield from the sun.<\/h3>\n
