After we discovered the damage our ventless gas logs had done to our walls, ceilings, and woodwork, we called in the pros to repaint the great room.\u00a0 It was such a treat for me to have someone else on a ladder painting that ceiling and the walls that are 10 feet tall.\u00a0 I have never painted a ceiling, and I don’t plan to start now.\u00a0 And by the way, if you haven’t read our recent post on fireplace logs maintenance<\/a>, do yourselves a favor and read it today – that is if you have ventfree or ventless gas logs.<\/h3>\n

The color that was in the great room was stucco by Sherwin Williams.<\/h3>\n

I love the color but wanted it lightened a little bit, so, they halved the pigment.\u00a0 You can see how much lighter it is here.\u00a0 And do you see those dark smudges?\u00a0 That’s the soot from the gas logs.\u00a0 I know……<\/h3>\n

The room looks so fresh and bright, that today I am busy painting the kitchen, which opens into the family room.\u00a0 If you follow us on Instagram<\/a>, then you know that already. \u00a0 The walls are only 9 feet tall, and I am only painting walls.\u00a0 Thank goodness, the soot damage was contained to just the great room, but now that I have started painting, it’s nice to have things freshened up.\u00a0 I painted the mud room yesterday.\u00a0 The crazy thing is that the rooms I really planned to paint this spring were the powder room and the laundry room.<\/h3>\n

There’s more painting in my immediate future.\u00a0 Jordan gets home from Iceland today, and I’m going to Charlotte at the end of the week to help her paint her kitchen cabinets white.\u00a0 Meanwhile, our son is coming for a short visit, so, I need to get these walls finished.\u00a0 Thanks for stopping in.<\/h3>\n
