{"id":30235,"date":"2016-02-18T19:17:17","date_gmt":"2016-02-19T00:17:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=30235"},"modified":"2016-10-24T19:41:25","modified_gmt":"2016-10-25T00:41:25","slug":"how-to-make-your-own-yogurt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=30235","title":{"rendered":"How to Make Your Own Yogurt"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Hi everyone!\u00a0 I have been on a healthy eating kick since the new year.\u00a0 I have been dealing with some digestive issues half of my life (I&#8217;ll tell you about it sometime), and I decided to give the Specific Carbohydrate Diet\/ food plan a go.\u00a0 I&#8217;m happy to report that it seems to be helping\/working. \u00a0SCD eating requires some planning and knowledge, and I have gotten a great amount of help from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0969276818\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0969276818&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;linkId=OP3CWOJUP3FW2VVW\">this book<\/a>.\u00a0 One of the things the book recommends is to eat homemade yogurt which contains more probiotics than you can get in a pill.\u00a0 So, I have started to make my own yogurt.\u00a0 I have talked so much about it that Mom has gotten in on the action, too.\u00a0 We both bought one of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B000EX16RY\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B000EX16RY&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;linkId=HAKP7MWHM5ZJM3P7\">these<\/a>, which is a surprisingly great buy.\u00a0 (They paid for themselves in less than a month.) We each also bought an extra set of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B000EWX4CA\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B000EWX4CA&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;linkId=KFTNLQNCREKU3DB5\">jars<\/a>.\u00a0 We think it&#8217;s very French to have our yogurt in a jar rather than a plastic container.\u00a0 Plus, those jars are reusable again and again.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30237\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/IMG_9415-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Homemade Yogurt- The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/IMG_9415-683x1024.jpg 683w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/IMG_9415-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/IMG_9415-300x450.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3>Making yogurt might sound like a tough undertaking, but we were surprised at how easy it is.\u00a0 We have been making unflavored\/unsweetened yogurt, and then we add fruit, honey, and sometimes nuts when we are ready to eat it.\u00a0 If you are used to eating the sweetened\/pudding style yogurt, this might take a little getting used to.\u00a0 It is a little tangy, but I now crave the taste.\u00a0 This yogurt is close to\u00a0 the consistency of Greek yogurt but not as thick. \u00a0It really does taste like the yogurt we eat in France.\u00a0 Nothing like having an international experience in your own homes now and then!<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>HOMEMADE YOGURT<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source &#8211; Euro Cuisine instruction booklet,( this is the recipe mom uses.) \u00a0 Since I am following the SCD plan, mine takes a little longer to make. Since she is happy with hers, we figured we would share the easier recipe of the two.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" whole milk) into a saucepan.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3>Heat the milk to 180 degrees or till it bubbles on the side of the pan.\u00a0 (<a uses Dannon) or a yogurt starter (I use <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B001GVIS4M\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B001GVIS4M&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;linkId=LPTAIHX6UFFXAZ2A\">this<\/a>.)\u00a0 You need to do this to introduce the yogurt culture.\u00a0 Once you have made your first batch of yogurt, then you can stir in one jar of it into the cooled milk the next time you make it.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3>Mix the milk and yogurt well with a whisk.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" will take 8 to 12 hours for the milk to become yogurt.\u00a0 I do everything at night, and let it process in the yogurt maker overnight.\u00a0 Once you make this, you will wonder why you haven&#8217;t done it before.\u00a0 You can place in the refrigerator to chill or thicken a little more.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"
