Hi everyone!\u00a0 We are so thankful that we have been fortunate enough to do walking tours in England<\/a> the last three years.\u00a0 Not only is it a great way to get some exercise while seeing beautiful scenery, but it’s also a great way to discover how people across the pond really live.\u00a0 One of the things I love about traveling is that we can steal<\/del> borrow little ideas from our vacations and bring them home with us.\u00a0 One of those ideas that I brought home this year was to use slate as place mats.\u00a0 Many of the restaurants and pubs in the small villages where we ate used pieces of slate as place mats.\u00a0 They are so attractive and practical that I had to share it with you.<\/h3>\n

Of course, it took me a while to jump on this idea, but I finally got around to buying two rectangular pieces of slate here and putting them to use.<\/h3>\n

These slate place mats<\/a> were sold by World Market as cheese trays<\/a>, and I’m sure they would be very good at doing that job. So, that means I can get more than one use out of them.\u00a0 Also, they can be cleaned by just giving them a quick wipe, they can also serve as place cards, and each corner has a tiny plastic knob to help protect tabletops.<\/h3>\n
