Does your house have a name?\u00a0 If not, have you thought about giving it one?\u00a0 Ever since we moved into our cottage-style home, I have wanted to give it a name.\u00a0 Any ole name won’t work.\u00a0 It has to be one that fits the house’s personality.\u00a0 I’m waiting for it to give me a hint.<\/h3>\n

In Britain, it is a common practice for people to name their homes.\u00a0 After all, we’ve all heard of Highclere Castle used in Downton Abbey.\u00a0 We know that Sandringham is the Queen’s country estate.\u00a0 However, a house doesn’t have to be grand to have a name.<\/h3>\n

When my parents took a walking tour in England’s Cotswold region a while back, my mom took photos of the names of various houses\/cottages in some villages.\u00a0 Here are a few of them.\u00a0 The Brits take great pride in their cottages’ names and have plaques custom made for them.\u00a0 When we come up with a name, I plan to have it printed here<\/a>.<\/h3>\n

Aren’t they just charming?\u00a0 The names add personality to each home.\u00a0 Sometimes the cottages’ names are used instead of street numbers, and I think that’s cool, too.\u00a0 If you have any name suggestions for our home, please share.\u00a0 This is something I really want to do.<\/h3>\n
