We recently spent a long week-end in California with our son, daughter-in-law, and her family.\u00a0 It was such a great time, and I just happened to take a few photos to show you.<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

We landed at the Los Angeles airport on a Thursday afternoon.\u00a0 Since our husbands had some business to do in south L.A., we rented two cars.\u00a0 While the guys worked, we ladies headed to Chateau Marmont<\/a> for lunch.\u00a0 Now, you probably have heard of Chateau Marmont.\u00a0 It is where many of the stars hang out, live, or eat.\u00a0 It has quite a history with big-time Hollywood movie stars.\u00a0 We had lunch in the courtyard restaurant, and no one is allowed to take photos there.\u00a0 That’s so the stars can have some privacy.\u00a0 It was very quiet and hush, hush, and we were treated like royalty.\u00a0 (After all Josie has been nominated for an Academy Award and has won an Emmy, so, she’s a star in her own right.) \u00a0 As each person walks into the courtyard, everyone stares to see if they are someone<\/em>.\u00a0 We saw Spike Lee, Randy Jackson, and possibly Orlando Bloom (not sure on that one).<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"California\"<\/p>\n

Since I had not been to L.A. for years and years, we decided to ride around after lunch, and then we headed to Beverly Hills.\u00a0 We rode past some stars’ homes.\u00a0 The joke was that we tried to find Larry King’s house, and we did.\u00a0 We also found Taylor Swift’s new $25 million fixer-upper.\u00a0 It is at the end of a very tiny cul de sac on a very ritzy street.\u00a0 There’s was a big fence, and so we really couldn’t see much of the house, but it was was once owned by Sam Goldwyn, the studio owner.\u00a0 We guessed that her view was incredible.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\"California<\/h3>\n

We spent that night in a hotel in L.A., and the next morning we headed to Santa Barbara where we went whale watching.<\/h3>\n

That was great fun, and we actually had a bunch of sightings.<\/h3>\n

Then we headed to Carpenteria where we rented a beach-side house for the week-end.\u00a0 Let me tell you that this house was gorgeous.\u00a0 In fact, it has been used in some movies, and it was all ours for the week-end.\u00a0 Just pinch me.\u00a0 We spent the afternoon there and went out to eat with some of Josie’s California family members that night.<\/h3>\n

On Saturday we had brunch, went shopping, watched football, played games, and had a great meal of fish tacos and these spicy margaritas<\/a>.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0\"Santa<\/h3>\n

Sunday morning we drove to Santa Barbara for mass at the Santa Barbara Mission<\/a>.\u00a0 It was one of the most beautiful services I have ever attended.\u00a0 That afternoon we just hung out at the house.\u00a0 It was so beautiful, and the weather was perfection.\u00a0 We didn’t want to be anywhere else.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\"Reagan<\/h3>\n

Monday morning the six of us went to the Reagan Presidential Library<\/a>.\u00a0 I had just read Killing Reagan<\/a><\/span><\/em>, and seeing Reagan’s historic memorabilia was very timely.\u00a0 Then we saw the movie “Spectre” and took the red-eye back home to Lexington.\u00a0 It was a wonderful way to spend a long week-end with family.<\/h3>\n
