It was 65 miles from where I live. Pieville is really Maysville, KY, the home of the Magee’s Bakery where George’s favorite pie, “transparent pie” originated. When I took my first bite, I knew immediately why it is his fave. The little bakery was out in the country a few miles from downtown. It was really kind of in the middle of nowhere down a country road surrounded by gorgeous views. A picture of George and his wife Amal was proudly propped on a stand, and the owner said they are both very nice. Isn’t that good to know?

I did some research online and found a recipe which I have already made and am sharing with you today. It really isn’t difficult, and you probably already have most of the ingredients. It tastes exactly like the pies made by the bakery. It is very, very rich but oh, so satisfying.

TRANSPARENT PIE

(source – www.kentuckytourism.com)

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted

2 cups sugar

1 cup cream

4 eggs, beaten

2 tablespoons flour

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 unbaked (9-inch) pie shell

Beat butter and sugar in a mixing bowl.
