{"id":28402,"date":"2015-08-26T18:00:47","date_gmt":"2015-08-26T23:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=28402"},"modified":"2015-08-26T21:09:20","modified_gmt":"2015-08-27T02:09:20","slug":"how-i-stay-fit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=28402","title":{"rendered":"How I Stay Fit"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>I was asked recently to do a post on how I stay fit and have so much energy.\u00a0 I wrote the post but haven&#8217;t been able to push the publish button till now.\u00a0 I am not suggesting anyone do this, but this is what works for me.\u00a0 I fear it might be too much info, but here it goes!<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Basically, I am a boring person.\u00a0 I get plenty of sleep, exercise regularly, and watch what I eat.\u00a0 That&#8217;s it.\u00a0 I weigh just a little more than I did in high school and often describe my body as that of a twelve year old with cellulite.\u00a0\u00a0 I&#8217;ll break it down for you and might end up sharing more information than you have any reason to be interested in.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-18512 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_5910-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"Strawberry, Almond Salad\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_5910-1024x681.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_5910-430x286.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>1.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>FOOD<\/strong><\/em><\/span> &#8211; I count my calories daily&#8230;..not in an obsessive way, but I am always aware of how much I am eating every day.\u00a0 Do I ever overeat?\u00a0 Of course.\u00a0 But when I do, I&#8217;ll pull back the next day.\u00a0 I know that I can eat around 1,800 calories a day and maintain my weight.\u00a0 If I eat up to 2,500 any day, then the next day I&#8217;ll pull back to around 1,200.\u00a0 It always evens out in the end.\u00a0\u00a0 Do I eat dessert?\u00a0 Yes, I love sweets, but I seldom eat an entire dessert after a meal.\u00a0 I usually will have just a bite.\u00a0 Also, I factor it into my total calorie intake.\u00a0 I know that eating is all about choices.\u00a0 I might opt for an apple rather than an apple pie.\u00a0 I love my chocolate and like to have mini bags of M &amp; M&#8217;s on hand or mini Snickers.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll eat a bag of M&#8217;s or a mini Snickers in the afternoon, and that will satisfy my craving.\u00a0 I never feel as if I am sacrificing.\u00a0 If I want to eat something, then I&#8217;ll eat it, but I don&#8217;t overdo it.\u00a0 I always order my salad dressings and sauces on the side.\u00a0 I eat plain baked potatoes or plain sweet potatoes and plenty of fruits and steamed or roasted veggies. \u00a0 I seldom eat anything fried (except my mother&#8217;s fried chicken).\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t eaten much pork nor any beef in over 20 years, but I do eat fish and chicken.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll have bacon now and then, and that&#8217;s my pork intake.\u00a0 If I am at home, my typical lunch will be a large serving of fat-free cottage cheese (I love the texture) with fresh fruit, usually grapes.\u00a0 In the winter I often eat homemade soup for lunch.\u00a0 I have a serving of cheese crackers or chips on the side but just a serving.\u00a0 I love a glass of Pinot Grigio or a mixed drink if we go out or are entertaining, but I&#8217;ll just have one.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-28539\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_1617-682x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Janette\" width=\"640\" height=\"961\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_1617-682x1024.jpg 682w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_1617-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_1617-300x451.jpg 300w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_1617-900x1352.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3>2.\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong> WEIGHT<\/strong><\/em><\/span> &#8211; I am 5 feet 8 inches tall and weigh 125 pounds.\u00a0 At this point I should probably mention that I am in my early 60&#8217;s.\u00a0 (Is that T.M.I???)\u00a0 During my two pregnancies, my OB\/GYN didn&#8217;t want his patients to gain more than 20 pounds back then.\u00a0 I wore my regular clothes home from the hospital.\u00a0 I was so glad that I didn&#8217;t have to deal with a new born and a diet to lose weight at the same time.\u00a0 I think maintaining my weight is a key reason why I am so healthy.\u00a0 My body doesn&#8217;t have to be constantly adjusting to weight changes.\u00a0 It just is what it is.\u00a0 I weigh myself a once or twice a week.\u00a0 I have always been flat-chested, have a long torso and long arms with shorter legs.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-27454\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_1940-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Horsey Hundred\" width=\"640\" height=\"853\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_1940-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_1940-242x323.jpg 242w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_1940-300x400.jpg 300w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_1940-900x1200.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>3.\u00a0 <em><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">EXERCISE<\/span><\/strong><\/em> &#8211; I work out at least six days a week, and I love it.\u00a0 I started working out regularly in my 30&#8217;s.\u00a0 I go to a 6 a.m. weight and aerobics class at the Y three mornings a week and walk or do a tread mill three mornings a week.\u00a0 I wear a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0095PZHZE\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B0095PZHZE&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;linkId=O4BCMY4LCYDTQFYO\">fitbit<\/a> so I make sure to get my 10,000 steps on most days.\u00a0 In warm months, I also ride my bicycle 30 to 50 miles a few times a week.\u00a0 If you have been reading us for a while, then you know I love to bicycle, and we ride all over the world.\u00a0 Those trips can be strenuous and require me to be in tip-top shape.\u00a0 For instance, when we rode across the USA a few years ago, we averaged 80 miles a day.\u00a0 One day was even 120 miles.\u00a0 I worked really hard to get in shape for that trip and the ones that followed.\u00a0 I won&#8217;t go on any bicycle tours now that average more than 60 miles a day.\u00a0 That is a very doable amount of mileage for me.\u00a0 More than that takes away some of the joy because there&#8217;s no time to stop and &#8220;smell the roses.&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-28092\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_1266-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Rustic kitchen shelves\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_1266-1024x682.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_1266-430x286.jpg 430w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_1266-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_1266-900x599.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>4.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>SLEEP<\/strong><\/em><\/span> &#8211; I get seven to eight hours of sleep a night.\u00a0 When I worked full time, I only got six hours some nights.\u00a0 I love to read right before I go to sleep.\u00a0 I find that I sleep better after reading than I do if I watch Bravo and the housewives (my station of choice) right before bedtime.\u00a0 We also keep our bedroom fairly cool at night.\u00a0 Mr. Right gets a massage every Friday afternoon (when he&#8217;s in town), and I will use that time to take a nap.\u00a0 It&#8217;s my treat for making the most of my week.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23587\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/IMG_8413-1024x879.jpg\" alt=\"Farm store vignette - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"550\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/IMG_8413-1024x879.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/IMG_8413-376x323.jpg 376w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>5.\u00a0 HEALTH &#8211; I get a check-up twice a year and paps and mams annually.\u00a0 Sugar diabetes is in my family, and it scares me.\u00a0 One of the people who has it is my skinny and active uncle.\u00a0 I feel that if he can get it, then I can get it.\u00a0 That&#8217;s a huge motivator for me to stay active and trim.
