“We have a little girl!!!”\u00a0 That is what Yankee said to me when he called me to tell me we got the anticipated call from our adoption agency. I was on the road traveling to a conference, and I didn’t want to get my hopes up about getting the call from my agency. Of course, my phone was in my hand at all times.\u00a0 As things go, I saw my phone light up with THE call as I was sitting on a plane, and the boarding doors were closing.\u00a0 That’s the time when all devices must be put in their airplane mode, and I couldn’t take the call.\u00a0 I quickly texted my husband to give him a “heads up” that the agency was trying to get in touch with me.\u00a0 The flight that day to Dallas was the longest flight of my life.<\/h3>\n

The moment we landed, I turned my phone on and called my husband. \u00a0 He had left a message with the agency, and they were going to call him back. \u00a0Ahh…..I was trying to act like no big deal, but it was a. very. big. deal. \u00a0 I got on the shuttle bus to the conference center and waited what seemed like forever.\u00a0 Thank goodness I sat in the back because Yankee called and said we have a little girl. \u00a0Tears of happiness starting coming down my face as he told me all of the details about her.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

Due to some guidelines from Thailand, we are unable to show pictures to you and won’t be able to until she is officially our daughter, which can take an additional year after she comes home. \u00a0For blog purposes we are calling her “Little Miss” as we would like to keep her real name private for the time being.\u00a0 Let’s just say we already have a monogram custom designed for her.<\/h3>\n

I can tell you Little Miss is absolutely adorable, and I can’t wait to hold her in my arms. \u00a0She has a full head of hair –\u00a0 so much that in her pictures you can tell she has already gotten a haircut. \u00a0She is currently nine months old, but our last pictures of her were at five months so I know that in the next round of pictures we will get in a couple months, she will already be so much bigger.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\"Adoption\"<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Little Miss is in a foster home and has a foster mother that I can tell is giving her lots of love. \u00a0We have pictures of the foster mother holding her, and I am comforted knowing my little girl has someone so caring and loving raising her till we can bring her home.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

Everyone has been asking me what is next, and when will Little Miss be coming home. \u00a0The short answer is in around a year.\u00a0 Right now we are waiting for another set of approval papers to be signed.\u00a0 That step can take about ten months. Then we will get rolling on filing yet another round of paperwork to get things going on the US side of the adoption. \u00a0During this wait, our finger prints will expire (go figure), and we will have to update our home study. \u00a0Will it be hard? \u00a0Yes, but we know the timeline (give or take), and we will do what can be done and not get frustrated about things we cannot control.<\/h3>\n

I have already started thinking about little girl rooms and paint colors. \u00a0I am going to collect some ideas and \u00a0make working on her room a winter project. \u00a0We are able to send a very small care package to her every three months which consists of an outfit, a disposable camera, and some pictures. \u00a0I had so much fun shopping for her outfit. It was really hard to pick just one, and especially since we aren’t sure of her size.\u00a0 I’ve never shopped for baby clothes before.<\/h3>\n
