A few months ago I shared with you our decision to adopt a child <\/a>from Thailand and grow our family. \u00a0It has been a year since Yankee and I made the decision to adopt and start the process.<\/h3>\n

Right now I get lots of questions about the wait. \u00a0While I wish our little one would be in my arms tomorrow, I have worked on not getting ahead of myself in this process and do one step at a time. \u00a0\u00a0We were so busy the first couple of months with paperwork, but now we just wait. \u00a0We wait to get matched with our child.<\/h3>\n

On the last report, we were told \u00a0we could be matched with our child in April.\u00a0 While I hope that turns out to be our match month, I am not holding my breath because there is nothing I can do to make this process go faster.\u00a0 Being matched doesn’t mean we will get to meet the child or bring it home at that time.\u00a0 What it means is that we will get a photo and maybe a progress report.\u00a0 In return, we can send a gallon sized bag of gifts which are usually an outfit, letters and photos, and a disposable camera.\u00a0\u00a0 The foster parents can use the camera to take photos so our child will have photos of its life before us.\u00a0 Also, we will get to see how he\/she is growing, etc.\u00a0 We will probably still not get to bring it home for another 12 to 15 months.\u00a0 We were told that the officials in Thailand move slowly, but that everything is done correctly and legally according to the Hague Council.<\/h3>\n

What I do think about are the people caring for our little one right now. \u00a0They have opened their hearts to love our child before he\/she comes home. \u00a0I cannot wait to thank them in person for tucking our child in at night, holding when he\/she cries, and giving it unconditional love. \u00a0I can’t even think of the day we will have to say goodbye to our child’s\u00a0foster family. It will be such a bittersweet day.<\/h3>\n

I know that day will be here before I know it, but until it does, we are enjoying spending time together doing the crazy things we do, and spending time with our family and friends.\u00a0 That makes the wait a little easier.<\/h3>\n
