I mentioned in a post before Christmas that we were getting two new chairs to go with our new great room dining table<\/a>.\u00a0 We selected a very basic style in a neutral color (anyone surprised???)\u00a0 I also mentioned that we are doing some tweaks in the room in the way\u00a0 of moving furniture.\u00a0 Jordan helped me way back in November when she was here, and now I’m waiting for Mr. Right to move the television from above the fireplace to another wall, but that’s a whole other post.\u00a0 So far, we like the way it is coming together.<\/h3>\n

Just like our old table, I am using the new one as a library table when we aren’t entertaining.\u00a0 Because of that, I have the two chairs sitting at an angle.\u00a0 I plan to go buy some more used books to add some needed color to the tabletop.\u00a0 Maybe you saw a suggestion about that in\u00a0 yesterday’s post.<\/a><\/h3>\n

The beige linen fabric is the perfect blank pallet for my various collections of pillows.\u00a0 I really like the way these kilim pillows<\/a> that I bought in Istanbul and Paris look on the chairs.<\/h3>\n

Here’s the chair with a needlepoint pillow that I found on a trip to Greece.<\/h3>\n

The reupholstered bench<\/a> adds a punch of color to the area when the chairs are without pillows.\u00a0 Although I haven’t done so yet, I intend to spray a fabric protector on them.\u00a0 They made it through the holidays without a smudge, but I don’t want to get too confident.\u00a0 I intend to stain the legs so they will be darker and blend better with the table.\u00a0 You can see there, also, that I have two side wooden side chairs.\u00a0 They are from the condo we owned in Toronto, but I think they might be too small to keep in that spot on a permanent basis.\u00a0 I might store them away and just pull them out when we have guests.<\/h3>\n

Here’s a better look at those wooden side chairs.\u00a0 I want to stain the light seats darker to blend in with the table.\u00a0 That will probably happen at the same time the legs get their darker look.<\/h3>\n

I really love our new chairs.\u00a0 They are traditional with a modern edge, and that’s just the look I’m going for in this room.\u00a0 It’s so much better than the way too formal table and chairs that were in here before.\u00a0 They are stored away in the basement in hopes that one day\u00a0 they will go into the formal dining room of one of our children’s homes.<\/h3>\n
