Ever since we moved into our townhouse a little over three years ago, I have wanted a different dining room table.\u00a0 I have probably mentioned that little fact at least a thousand times here on the blog.\u00a0 The table that we brought with us from our home in the suburbs was an investment piece years ago, and it isn’t one to paint or sand or refinish.\u00a0 It is pure perfection in the right space.\u00a0 In fact, it is up for grabs to whichever one of our offsprings gets a formal dining room first.<\/h3>\n

When it comes to buying furnture, we have some special issues we need to deal with.\u00a0 You see, Mr. Right is seven feet tall.\u00a0 We can’t just buy a piece of furniture or a car because we like it.\u00a0 He has to try it on.\u00a0 As far as a table goes, he has to be able to get his legs under it.\u00a0 For instance, the suburb table you see here has two pedestals in the middle so he could have leg room.<\/h3>\n

The tables that I have liked are both great antiques or new with a rustic twist.\u00a0 The antique tables really wouldn’t work because people were a lot shorter back then, and so the tables just aren’t very comfortable for him.<\/h3>\n

All of the tables in this post have been resting in my dining table file in my Pinterest account.\u00a0 You can see that they are all rectangular because that’s the shape we need for the space.<\/h3>\n

Another requirement we have of the new table, which we will call a great room table, is that it can’t be any longer than six feet.<\/h3>\n

It can have a leaf to make it go up to eight feet, but when not in use, it can only be six feet.\u00a0 That will allow us plenty of space to move around it.\u00a0 We also didn’t want it to be too trendy.<\/h3>\n

I am happy to let you know that after lots and lots of shopping, we have finally found the table, bought it, and it is sitting in our great room.<\/h3>\n

We will share it with you soon.\u00a0 Is it the perfect table?\u00a0 Almost.\u00a0 We both really like it.\u00a0 It is new but has a refined rustic look to it.\u00a0 It is six feet long but will extend to eight feet and seat ten people.\u00a0 (Rarely do I entertain that many at one time.)<\/h3>\n
