Writing this blog with my mom has been so much fun. \u00a0Not only does it keep us close when we live so far away, but\u00a0 it has really increased my interest in decor and design. \u00a0A lot of this came from being around my mom, but even in college I remember hitting up garage sales with my best friend to find a deal and paint some furniture to give it a new look for my place. \u00a0Recently, I decided I wanted to learn even more, so I signed up for an online design school.<\/h3>\n

\"New<\/p>\n

I did a lot of research and discovered New York Institute of Art and Design<\/a>. \u00a0This program recently had a name change from Sheffield to NYIAD. \u00a0 I am focusing on the interior design program.\u00a0 It had great reviews, and I can work at my own pace.\u00a0 I do have projects to turn in, and those projects keep me accountable and force me to have somewhat of a timeline to work on my assignments.<\/h3>\n

While it is an online course, I have text books and cd\/dvd lessons. \u00a0Each unit has some projects that I have to do. \u00a0For example, unit one was a rough sketch of drawing a living room. Moving along, I am now drawing a living room to scale and working with furniture placement. \u00a0I am starting with the basics and growing with each unit. \u00a0I have to thank my neighbor Jennifer for letting me use her living room for my assignments.<\/h3>\n

They are also great about teaching about furniture designs, styles, and\u00a0 green design.<\/h3>\n

I have had fun with the color exercises that I have done for some of my assignments.<\/h3>\n

All of these supplies were included \u00a0with units\u00a0 one and two, so I am learning how to use the tools of the trade, also. \u00a0Once my project is reviewed by the instructor, she emails me a recording going over what I did right and what I might need to work on. \u00a0I never thought I would have so much\u00a0 homework!\u00a0 The biggest fear that Mom and I have about this course is that now we will learn what we have been doing wrong all along.\u00a0 And will we want to change everything in our houses?\u00a0 Our husbands hope not!!!<\/h3>\n
