Ever since we moved into our townhouse three years ago, I have been on the look-out for a new dining room table.\u00a0 Although the dining table and chairs that we owned were investment pieces, the look was just too formal for our great room.\u00a0 They were perfect when we had a formal dining room in our last lives<\/del> house, but here?\u00a0 Not so much.<\/h3>\n

Do you see what I mean?\u00a0 It just wasn’t the right look for a room where we now hang out, read, watch television, and entertain informally.\u00a0 I wanted something a little less colonial and a lot more me.\u00a0 It didn’t matter if our replacement table was new or an antique.\u00a0 However, Mr. Right is seven-feet tall, so it had to fit.\u00a0 Antique furniture is often on the small side because the people were smaller back in the day.<\/h3>\n

When I saw this one, I knew it was the one.\u00a0 It is new yet rustic.\u00a0 It will seat up to ten people when the leaf is in, but on its own, it will seat six.<\/h3>\n

I love that it already has some manufactured dings in it.\u00a0 Ironically, after I bought this one, I found a really old, rustic farm house table at a nearby consignment shop.\u00a0 It was loaded with personality, but the downside was that it was eight feet long.\u00a0 That was just too long for the space all of the time.\u00a0 That will be the measurement when the leaf is in, but I didn’t want a table that large on a daily basis.<\/h3>\n

Right now I just have our original dining chairs beside the table.\u00a0 I have some chairs in the basement that are painted, but the seat part is stained.\u00a0 We had them in our get-away condo that we owned in Toronto, Ontario.\u00a0 I am thinking about stripping just the seats and staining them to match the table.\u00a0 The painted part is just fine.\u00a0 Another option is to recover two wing chairs that we own and put them on both ends of the table.\u00a0 I plan to load it up to make it look like a library table when we aren’t using it.<\/h3>\n

It also has this little industrial touch on the bottom.\u00a0 It’s industrial but not so “in my face” with it.\u00a0 I am very excited to have finally found a table.\u00a0 As I get it accessorized and chaired the way I want it, I’ll be sure to show you.<\/h3>\n
