Don’t you love it when you walk in a store, and something calls your name?\u00a0 That happened to me last week when I stopped in at the very nice antique shop near my house.\u00a0 I had not been there for months and months, and I just wanted to take a little browse around.\u00a0 Within about 15 seconds, I spotted the sweetest pastel drawing of a mother and her infant child done in only reds.\u00a0 It had been professionally framed once upon a time and had a red mat.\u00a0 After I walked through the store and admired everything, I bought the art before leaving.<\/h3>\n

I could tell from the condition of the back of the piece that it was either very old, had been mishandled, or both.\u00a0 I didn’t want to hang it on our wall looking like this, so I decided to repair it.<\/h3>\n

I removed as much of the old backing as possible and assembled the supplies that I would need.\u00a0 When Michaels puts there scrapbook paper on sale, I always load up.\u00a0 Luckily, I had two pieces on hand that looked like an old handwritten letter.\u00a0 I thought those sheets of paper would be perfect because they would look like a letter written to the child by the mother.<\/h3>\n

The frame measures 13 by 13 inches, so I used one entire sheet and then “spliced” part of the second sheet to it at the bottom.\u00a0 I was careful to match up the writing.\u00a0 Even though this backing won’t be seen when it is hung, I wanted it to look nice also.<\/h3>\n

The results were perfect, and now it is hanging in a spot over a night stand in one of our bedrooms.<\/h3>\n

As in all of the rooms in our house, I have touches of red in this bedroom, and the art fits right in.<\/h3>\n

I didn’t see the artist’s name.\u00a0 It might be covered by the mat.<\/h3>\n
