I know that title sounds very “Oh, la, la”, but really, I’m just talking about breakfast at a bakery down the street.\u00a0 However, that bakery isn’t just your typical ole donut kind of USA bakery.\u00a0 If I didn’t know better,\u00a0 I would think the National Boulangerie and Patisserie, which is located a ten-minute walk from my house, was plucked right out of the middle of France and put down here in Lexington.<\/h3>\n

The building has 16,000 square feet and is in a section of Walton Avenue that is having a major redevelopment and reuse of old industrial style spaces.\u00a0 The new owners painted this great design on the floor, added bright red pleather banquets and teeny little round tables topped with pink Norwegian marble.\u00a0 The pink marble might sound horrible, but it is pure perfection in this space.\u00a0 I love that they had the nerve to pair pink with the red.<\/h3>\n

Bakeries in France are just places where people run in, buy what they want, and leave.\u00a0 I have never seen one that sells beverages.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 This boulangerie\/patisserie has quite the beverage menu.<\/h3>\n

Everything is so nicely displayed.<\/h3>\n

I love that they flipped a dresser drawer upside down and made it into a stand for some of their baked goods.<\/h3>\n

The couple who owns the business has extensive restaurant experience.\u00a0 She is originally from Kentucky but spent years working in the food industry in New York City.\u00a0 He is from France.<\/h3>\n

Their cakes make the supermarket bakery cakes look a lot less attractive.\u00a0 Can I hear a collective yum???<\/h3>\n

Even with just my iphone photos, the baked goods look scrumptious.<\/h3>\n

My homemade butter<\/a> tastes even better on their baquettes.\u00a0 At least, I think it does!!!<\/h3>\n

If you would rather have something healthier, they have you covered.\u00a0 They have built a “beer hall” that sells delicious sandwiches and a variety of brews in another part of the building, and it has its own entrance.\u00a0 Plus, they will be opening a food\/wine shop soon.\u00a0 It is now being constructed.<\/h3>\n

They sure know how to take care of the details.\u00a0 What a great way to brew my tea that I drank while eating a currant scone.<\/h3>\n

On another visit I enjoyed a scone with my breakfast tea.\u00a0 Oh, these photos are making me hungry.\u00a0 I might just go back tomorrow morning!!!<\/h3>\n
