A few weeks ago Jordan and I wrote here on the blog that we were going to each paint our guest bedrooms using the same color.\u00a0 Her guest room was gold, and it was the only bedroom they did not paint after moving into their bungalow.\u00a0 Our guest room was a bright yellow, and frankly, I was just over that color.\u00a0 We knew we wanted a neutral that had soft yellow undertones instead of green, pink, gray, or greige undertones.\u00a0 We settled on a color called Creme by Sherwin Williams.\u00a0 I used SW paint, and she had Home Depot mix the color up for her using Behr paint.<\/h3>\n

And here it is.\u00a0 One of my favorite sayings comes to mind when I look at this photo:\u00a0 “Same, same but different.”<\/h3>\n

It’s still sporting its summer look, but this comforter and shams will be put away in a few weeks in preparation for the cooler weather.\u00a0 Meanwhile, I want to enjoy the room with all of its brightly colored accessories.<\/h3>\n

I switched out the plates that were over the bed before.\u00a0 They are now hanging in the foyer.\u00a0 These blue plates, which were originally in the foyer, are now here.\u00a0 I’ll show you how the plates look in the foyer soon.<\/h3>\n

I didn’t make a lot of changes with the room’s accessories.\u00a0 These pillows that I made still are on the bed, but I’ll go darker for fall.<\/h3>\n

My grandmother’s church hat still hangs on the bed post.\u00a0 And by the way, you can really see the yellow undertones in this shot.\u00a0 All of the doors and trim are painted pure white by SW.<\/h3>\n

Here’s the side by side.\u00a0 You can see that it is a lot tamer.\u00a0 The original color paired with the morning sun meant I practically needed to wear sunglasses in the room.\u00a0 Now I can just enjoy the peace and calmness of the new color.\u00a0 I still need to paint the ensuite bathroom, but unless I’m hit with a major case of energy, that little project will just have to wait till winter.<\/h3>\n
