Anne of Green Gables,<\/span> the book, is adored by millions, and I recently had the opportunity to get the whole Anne of Green Gables experience when I went to Prince Edward Island for a little Labor Day weekend trip with Yankee. \u00a0I will share more Prince Edward Island pictures with you later, but today I want to tell you about visiting Green Gables.<\/h3>\n

\"Anne<\/p>\n

When we planned a trip to Prince Edward Island, I decided to reread some of the books. \u00a0When I was a young, I spent some Saturdays with my besties Amanda and Paulynn watching the movies and talking about Anne Shirley (Anne with an E.)\u00a0 This house was one of the stops Princes Kate and William made when they were on PEI for a visit.<\/h3>\n

I loaded up my kindle with the book<\/a> and let my imagination set in.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Yankee was not familar with the book (he’s such a guy), so to ease him into it before going to Green Gables, we went to the Anne of Green Gables musical. \u00a0It was wonderful!\u00a0 The costumes were beautiful and we both<\/span> enjoyed the play.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Tons of little girls were at the show with hats and red braids. \u00a0It was pretty cute.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

The next day we drove to Cavendish, the town where it is located, and went to visit Green Gables. It was a beautiful day, and the grounds were just as amazing as I imagined.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

The property had beautiful gardens around the grounds.\u00a0 They had both flower and vegetable gardens.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"Anne<\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

\u00a0We learned there was not a real Anne Shirley, and the house Green Gables was based on a house that was close to the author’s home when she was growing up on Prince Edward Island. \u00a0The house is set up based on the descriptions in the book and how it would have been at that time. \u00a0I felt they did an excellent job and it really felt as if Anne, Matthew and Marilla lived there.<\/h3>\n

The kitchen was simple but very nice. \u00a0I loved seeing the dough bowls and the nice china in the hutch.\u00a0 People collect a lot of those things today.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

I loved the details such as the Raspberry Cordial on the shelf of the hutch, or maybe it was the wine where Diana had a few too many glasses.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The first floor also had a small sitting\/living room.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A small formal dining room was on the first floor as well.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"Anne<\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

We were able to go upstairs and see the modest bedrooms.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The furnishings were simple and charming.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

I am pretty sure this would have been Matthew’s room.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"Trails<\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

The author of Anne of Green Gables said while the character of Anne was in her imagination, the one true part was there was a Lover’s Lane and Haunted Woods. \u00a0We took a little stroll around those trails.<\/h3>\n

They definitely play up everything Anne, and I did buy some Raspberry Cordial. \u00a0It was very tasty and hit the spot.<\/h3>\n

If you love the book or even if you are on Prince Edward Island, going to Green Gables is a must do. \u00a0I hope you enjoyed the little tour.<\/h3>\n
