{"id":24211,"date":"2014-09-01T18:00:46","date_gmt":"2014-09-01T23:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=24211"},"modified":"2014-09-02T18:47:10","modified_gmt":"2014-09-02T23:47:10","slug":"decorating-small-spaces-revisted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=24211","title":{"rendered":"Decorating Small Spaces- Revisted"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Well, welcome to September.\u00a0 We hope you all had a great week-end.\u00a0 Mr. Right and I went tailgating, saw a movie, worked on some house projects, bicycled, and watched some SEC football.\u00a0 This was such a popular post last September that we wanted to revisit it for this year.\u00a0 It is loaded with some great tips.<\/h3>\n<h3><!--more--><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Jordan shared with you three posts about decorating small spaces, (<a title=\"Visual Tricks to Enlarge a Small Space\" href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2013\/08\/13\/visual-tricks-to-enlarge-a-small-space\/\">here<\/a> and <a title=\"Visual Tricks to Enlarge a Small Space\" href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2013\/08\/13\/visual-tricks-to-enlarge-a-small-space\/\">here<\/a>) and decorating a rental (<a title=\"Decorating Tips for Rental Spaces and Dorms\" href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2013\/08\/05\/decorating-tips-for-rental-spaces-and-dorms\/\">here<\/a>).\u00a0 We heard this great info at Haven, and all of this came from just one session put on by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.notjustahousewife.net\/\">Not Just a Housewife<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/shabbynest.blogspot.com\/\">The Shabby Nest<\/a>.\u00a0 These ladies were loaded with info.\u00a0 We also learned some great hints how about decorating on a small budget, too.\u00a0 So, no matter what the size of your space, if you have a limited amount of dollars to spend on decor, we have lots of great ideas for you.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-24224\" alt=\"The 2 Seasons\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8963-681x1024.jpg\" width=\"409\" height=\"614\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8963-681x1024.jpg 681w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8963-215x323.jpg 215w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 409px) 100vw, 409px\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Bring nature in.\u00a0 Use leaves instead of flowers.\u00a0 I keep something in this little vase all year long.\u00a0 In the summer I use fern fronds, in the fall I use feathers,\u00a0 in the winter it holds twigs, and in the spring it holds small limbs from our shrubs.\u00a0 It&#8217;s all free and seasonal.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-24138\" alt=\"Janette's Kitchen - The 2 Seasons\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8764-1024x681.jpg\" width=\"614\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8764-1024x681.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8764-430x286.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Make something plain into something special.\u00a0 Put interesting rocks or shells in a bowl or or even in a silver dish. \u00a0 Instead of throwing away my old passport, I used the colorful pages to make this interesting tray.\u00a0 It was a free upgrade.\u00a0 The cute red basket you see holding my wooden kitchen utensils came from a farm supply store.\u00a0 It is made for holding farm eggs, but I am using it in a different way.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-19892\" title=\"Flowers\" alt=\"Flowers\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_3690-1024x936.jpg\" width=\"614\" height=\"562\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_3690-1024x936.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_3690-353x323.jpg 353w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_3690.jpg 2023w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Buy tiny bouquets at the market, and make them last as long as possible by changing the water daily and snipping off the ends and changing the vases as the flowers get smaller. \u00a0Better yet, use flowers from your garden &#8211; even flowers you typically don&#8217;t think of for a bouquet. \u00a0This little vase holds a fern frond, a stem of rosemary, a geranium, and pansy. \u00a0None of these are normally used in traditional arrangements.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18637\" alt=\"Baby Table Turned Bar\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_4892.jpg\" width=\"534\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_4892.jpg 534w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_4892-215x323.jpg 215w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 534px) 100vw, 534px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Paint, paint, paint.\u00a0 I feel as if I&#8217;m preaching to the choir on this one.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t need to say another thing about paint.\u00a0 And while you are painting, try repurposing.\u00a0 For instance, this great bar was once a baby changing table.\u00a0 All it took was paint and time to make the transformation.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-24155\" alt=\"Kitchen - The 2 Seasons\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8825-1024x723.jpg\" width=\"614\" height=\"434\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8825-1024x723.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8825-430x303.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Shop your house and make great art from what you find. \u00a0 Hang plates.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Frame some old keys or old silverware from your grandma.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2013\/04\/08\/map-a-letter\/\">Maps make great<\/a> and interesting art as do fun restaurant place mats and menus.\u00a0 Jordan framed the menu from her and Yankee&#8217;s first date and gave it to him for a wedding gift.\u00a0 He loved it.\u00a0 <a title=\"Fabric Art for the Bedroom\" href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2013\/09\/08\/fabric-art-for-the-bedroom\/\">Framed fabric<\/a> works well, too.\u00a0 Even an old game can become art.\u00a0 I love what Jordan did with these <a title=\"Scrabble Art for Our Gallery Wall\" href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2012\/11\/06\/scrabble-art-for-our-gallery-wall\/\">Scrabble letters<\/a>.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19562\" alt=\"Painted Curtains\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/IMG_5268.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/IMG_5268.jpg 800w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/IMG_5268-430x287.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Add trim to what you have.\u00a0 Rick rack and ribbon on curtains are a great way to add a pop of color on a dime.\u00a0 Or you can buy inexpensive plain white curtains and <a title=\"More Painted Curtains\" href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2013\/08\/20\/more-painted-curtains\/\">paint them <\/a>with stripes or stencil them.\u00a0 It just takes some time and measuring and a little paint.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-4282  aligncenter\" alt=\"DIY Lamps\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/IMG_0818-1024x886.jpg\" width=\"614\" height=\"532\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/IMG_0818-1024x886.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/IMG_0818-373x323.jpg 373w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0Another great way to have unusual accessories is to make lamps out of unusual items.\u00a0 I bought these great demijohns in wooden crates on ebay.\u00a0 Then I purchased two <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00002NADS\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00002NADS&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;linkId=DBGJI2PLKETM4MWA\">lamp kits<\/a> from Amazon.\u00a0 It took only about two hours to create these great lamps that are immediate conversation pieces.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-18217 \" alt=\"DIY Nautical Candles\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Rope-after-682x1024.jpg\" width=\"409\" height=\"614\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Rope-after-682x1024.jpg 682w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Rope-after-215x323.jpg 215w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 409px) 100vw, 409px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Wrap things in twine to create cute little holders.\u00a0 Tin cans work, or you can even wrap thrift store glass containers with rope, and it can either look nautical or give it an autumnal look.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-24229\" alt=\"Framed notecard -
