kitchen, and pretty much everything was home-made.\u00a0 When autumn rolled around, and it was time for us to return to school, she baked up batches of peanut butter cookies, which I will always think of as &#8220;back-to-school cookies.&#8221;\u00a0 Since the school buses are now running in many parts of the country, I thought it was time to share my favorite back-to-school cookie recipe with you.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-24027\" alt=\"Peanut butter cookies\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Peanut-butter-cookies-681x1024.jpg\" width=\"409\" height=\"614\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Peanut-butter-cookies-681x1024.jpg 681w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Peanut-butter-cookies.jpg 1901w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 409px) 100vw, 409px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">I don&#8217;t know why, but there just is something in the air that makes me crave these cookies this time of year.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-24029\" alt=\"Cooky book - The 2 Seasons\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8714-1024x681.jpg\" width=\"614\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8714-1024x681.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8714-430x286.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">I received a cookie recipe book when I was a senior in high school called Betty Crocker&#8217;s Cooky Book.\u00a0 Yes, that&#8217;s how it is spelled in big letters on the front of the book.\u00a0 I have used it and used it.\u00a0 This photo is an example of what every page in the book now looks like with all of the smears.\u00a0 I have never baked cookies from these recipes that weren&#8217;t delicious.\u00a0 Oh, sure, I have owned other cookie recipe books (including one by Martha Stewart), but I donated all of them to the thrift store when we moved.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t need them to clutter up my shelves when all I needed was Betty Crocker.\u00a0 I checked, and the book is still available <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0764566377\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0764566377&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;linkId=36GO3KBEPE3KV2KQ\">here<\/a>, if you are interested.\u00a0 I am sure that after you make this recipe, you will want them all.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-24030\" alt=\"Peanut butter cookies\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8719-1024x681.jpg\" width=\"614\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8719-1024x681.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8719-430x286.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">1\/2 cup shortening (half butter)<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">1\/2 cup peanut butter<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">1\/2 cup granulated sugar<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">1\/2 cup brown sugar, packed<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">1 egg<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">1 1\/4 cups all-purpose flour<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">1\/2 teaspoon baking powder<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">3\/4 teaspoon baking soda<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">1\/4 teaspoon salt<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Preheat oven to 375 degrees.\u00a0 Cream together first five ingredients.\u00a0 Sift remaining ingredients and stir them into shortening mixture.\u00a0 Roll dough into 1 1\/4 inch balls.\u00a0 Place 3 inches apart on baking sheet.\u00a0 Flatten crisscross style with a fork dipped in flour.\u00a0 Bake for 9 &#8211;
