This morning when I took some items to our basement storage room, I caught a glimpse of my father’s old 1950’s golf clubs sitting in the corner.\u00a0 I grabbed them along with a wooden swan and a little bird cage and decided to add them to our sun room.<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

\"Sun<\/p>\n

The sun room is a great place for us to use nine months out of the year.\u00a0 I often eat my breakfast there while reading the paper.\u00a0 It’s also a great place for blogging, reading, and writing.\u00a0 I don’t follow any decorating rules at all (not that I usually do), and so it is a just a free-for-all of things I love.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

For instance, our house in the burbs was right beside a lake, and this swan fit right in there.\u00a0 Since we down-sized to the city, though, she has been stored away.\u00a0 I thought it would be a nice to freshen up the sun room by putting her front and center.\u00a0 The swan works even though the only nearby water source is our courtyard water fountain<\/a>.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

The sun room is very teeny.\u00a0 It is really just a little solarium that is wedged between the courtyard’s outer wall and the townhouse’s outer wall.\u00a0 There is not a lot of space to work with, but that’s okay.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

Since I don’t follow any rules in there, I knew these old school golf clubs would be right at home.<\/h3>\n

They add more color and texture to the room.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

Plus, the plaid fits in with the plaid pillows on the old wicker sofa.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

The down-side to this room is that its ceiling is glass, and it gets the afternoon sun.\u00a0 That translates to mean I could probably bake bread in there every summer afternoon around 4 o’clock.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

I have often thought that it would be a great place for a table and dinner by candlelight, but the afternoon sun puts a quick end to that dream.\u00a0 It would be doable, though, in the winter months if we added a small base heater.\u00a0 I guess the Brits can use their glass solariums because they don’t have as much hot sunshine as we do here in the south.<\/h3>\n

The room is loaded with different textures like these brick floors.\u00a0 The previous owner installed 1980’s era blue square tiles over the brick.\u00a0 We had them removed when we did a total remodel before moving in.\u00a0 I love the extra patina that the grout left behind.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

This old trunk is a great place for storing the pillows that we use in the courtyard<\/a>.\u00a0 It was a $5.00 purchase that I bought as a newlywed.\u00a0 Mr. Right surprised me a few years ago when he had a trunk guy refurbish it.<\/h3>\n

There’s no theme or consistency at all in the items I have put in there.\u00a0 Like I said, it’s just things I love.<\/h3>\n

Since the sun room has screens on the windows, we can close them in bad weather. \u00a0That makes it possible to put some wooden furniture in there.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

My few little tweaks definitely freshen up the room and will hold it over until fall when it takes on its backwoods look<\/a>.<\/h3>\n
