I finally learned a great (and possibly the best) tip for cleaning a paint brush that has been used with latex paint.\u00a0 It has been my M.O. in the past to buy cheap paint brushes and just toss them when my paint job was finished.\u00a0 Jordan and I have been doing a little painting lately (here<\/a>, here<\/a>, and here<\/a>), and so, it is easier on the wallet to buy a decent brush and clean it properly.\u00a0 Plus, you can get a better finish when using a good brush, I think.<\/h3>\n

This is what my paint brush looked like after I painted our kitchen bench.<\/h3>\n

Since it was a latex paint, I washed off as much paint as possible.<\/h3>\n

Now, this is the step very few people know about.\u00a0 I mixed up a solution of fabric softener<\/a> and water in a little plastic bowl.\u00a0 Then I soaked the cleaned paint brush in it for a few minutes.<\/h3>\n

I then rinsed it again in clear water and let it dry.\u00a0 The paint brush feels like a new one.\u00a0 Other than a little discoloration left over from the paint, it’s as good as new.\u00a0 If I continue using this method to clean my brushes, I might never have to buy another one.<\/h3>\n
