markets across the country for those of us who don&#8217;t have veggies growing in our back yards.\u00a0 I put this casserole together, and the wow factor is definitely the little bit of basil that is added.\u00a0 Basil and squash aren&#8217;t a common combo, but the herb amps up the flavor just the right amount.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-23611\" alt=\"Squash Casserole\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Squash-Casserole-1024x879.jpg\" width=\"614\" height=\"527\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Squash-Casserole-1024x879.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Squash-Casserole-376x323.jpg 376w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">SQUASH<\/span> CASSEROLE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\">3 medium sized squash, sliced very thinly<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\">1 onion, chopped<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\">1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\">1\/2 teaspoon salt<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\">1\/4 teaspoon ground black pepper<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\">1 egg<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\">1\/2 sleeve saltine crackers, crushed<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\">1 1\/2 cups milk<\/h3>\n<h3>1\/4 cup chopped basil<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\">5 slices bacon cooked to crispness and broken into pieces<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\">Preheat oven to 350 degrees.\u00a0 Spray a casserole dish with vegetable spray.\u00a0 In a bowl combine squash and onion.\u00a0 In another bowl mix cheese, salt, pepper, egg, milk, basil, and crackers together.\u00a0 Add to squash and onion, and stir to mix.\u00a0 Pour into casserole dish and top with the bacon pieces.\u00a0 Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.\u00a0 Remove foil and bake for 15 minutes more.\u00a0 Remove from oven and let sit for 10 minutes before serving.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Thank you so much for stopping in.\u00a0 Remember to check back in with us tomorrow for The <em>Seasons&#8217;
