Jordan asked me to tell you all how much she and Charles appreciate your kind comments about yesterday’s post<\/a>.\u00a0 It means a lot to know you are pulling for them. We know that instead of calling this post Kitchen String Storage, we could have called it Another Use for a New Paint Can.\u00a0 Whatever the title, it’s a simple little tip that will solve a kitchen problem you might not even know you have.<\/h3>\n

Last week when I bought a plain, new paint can to make the garden hose holder<\/a>, I realized that the sky is the limit when it comes to uses for those cans.\u00a0 They are clean, easily available in a big box store, and best of all, they are cheap.\u00a0 So, right away I told Jordan that we need to come up with some DIY projects for them.<\/h3>\n

Since my brain was in the problem solving\/creative mode, it didn’t take too long to come up with a quick use for a quart-sized can.\u00a0 It would be perfect for taming my kitchen string that gets tangled up in the gadget drawer.<\/h3>\n

The steps are simple.\u00a0 Gather your supplies.\u00a0 You will need some wrapping paper, fabric, or scrap book paper, scissors, a ruler, and either a white glue or a glue gun.\u00a0 Don’t make the same mistake that I made.\u00a0 I originally used Gorilla Glue, but it left a big ole smear on the paper. I cut a new piece of paper and then used the glue gun.\u00a0 The first step is to put a hole in the lid with a hammer and nail.<\/h3>\n

Then measure the width and length you will need to cut your paper.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

Add the glue and then just wrap the paper around the can.\u00a0 Secure the end with glue.\u00a0 That’s all there is to it unless you want to seal it with some Modpodge.<\/h3>\n

Put your string in it, and you have yourself a new use for a small paint can.\u00a0 Like last week’s paint can project, this one is easy and kid-friendly with adult supervision.\u00a0 Plus, you can really vary how it looks depending on what type of paper you select.\u00a0 It would be a cute little gift, also, for the teachers to use in their classrooms.<\/h3>\n
