It’s true that you really can make a cherry pie in a jar, and it is as tasty as you would ever want it to be. \u00a0I fixed quite the dinner for Mr. Right and me one night this week, and the finale was cherry pie. \u00a0Just so you will be totally in the know, the main course was made up of chicken cordon bleu, cucumber salad, and pasta with pesto<\/a> (the basil came from my herb garden<\/a>). \u00a0We ate the meal in the courtyard<\/a> and sipped a little vino while we munched away.<\/h3>\n

The pie was not only delicious, it was easy. \u00a0In fact, it was so good that I made peach pie in a jar two nights later.<\/h3>\n

CHERRY PIE IN A<\/strong> JAR<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Makes 2 servings<\/h3>\n

Preheat oven to 350 degrees<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

1 cup cherries, halved and seeded<\/h3>\n

1\/2 cup sugar<\/h3>\n

1\/2 cup dried oats<\/h3>\n

1 cup flour<\/h3>\n

1\/2 teaspoon salt<\/h3>\n

3 tablespoons unsalted butter<\/h3>\n

Cooking spray<\/h3>\n

Half-pint canning jars<\/h3>\n

Whipped topping (optional)<\/h3>\n

\u00a0– Mix the cherries with 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 tablespoons flour. \u00a0Let sit for a few minutes so the juices will come out.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0– In another container, combine remaining sugar and flour with 2 tablespoons butter, and salt. \u00a0Mix with a fork. \u00a0It will be lumpy.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0– Spray the inside of each jar with the cooking spray. \u00a0First, put in a layer of cherries, then a layer of the flour mixture. \u00a0Add another layer of cherries and top off with the flour mixture. \u00a0Add half a tablespoon of \u00a0butter to the top of each. \u00a0Put the jars in a cake pan and bake in a 350 degree oven for between 30 and 45 minutes. \u00a0Before serving, top with whipped cream.<\/h3>\n
