It’s been a while since we did an art update around here.\u00a0 Today seemed like a good time to do it.<\/h3>\n

A few weeks ago, I showed you an abstract painting that I did using this method<\/a>, and I showed you where it was going to go.<\/h3>\n

Thanks to Mr. Right’s help, it is now hanging in its permanent spot.<\/h3>\n

It definitely brightens up the great room and adds a colorful impact with its bright colors.<\/h3>\n

I have a pen and ink drawing of our last house, a watercolor of our first house, but I didn’t have any art work depicting the house in between.\u00a0 When we moved to Lexington, we built a brick cape cod house on a ten-acre piece of land.\u00a0 The house was large ( 7,000 square feet).\u00a0 At the time I had a full-time job, Mr. Right was traveling a lot with his job, and our children were in a private school miles away.\u00a0 We wasted<\/del> spent many hours doing yard work that we knew would have to be done again in just a few days.\u00a0 When our son was a senior in high school, we sold it and moved to a smaller house with a small lot in the suburbs.\u00a0 Jordan and our son Cory gave me a painting of the house for my birthday.<\/h3>\n

I added it to our gallery wall in the hallway.\u00a0 I am not going to frame it because the artist wrapped the paint around the edges in a really cool way.<\/h3>\n

I love it, and it fits right in with the other two houses.\u00a0 The one on the right is the drawing of the house in the suburbs.\u00a0 We lived there until three years ago when we down-sized to this townhouse.\u00a0 The brick house on the top is the first house we built.\u00a0 It was a charming Dutch colonial, and we brought baby Jordan home from the hospital to that house.<\/h3>\n

I probably should be shot for showing you this one, but I’m puttin’ it out there.\u00a0 One day in art class we painted a still life of some potted hydrangeas.\u00a0 I did a very impressionistic version on a 16 x 20 inch canvas.\u00a0 This is hanging in our sunroom<\/a>.<\/h3>\n

And finally, I took this photo on a bicycling trip in France<\/a> in 2012.\u00a0 I am now painting it in oils.\u00a0 I have added a punch of color by making the door a aged greenish blue.\u00a0 I love this photo because of the textures, perspective and colors.\u00a0 I’ll be sure to show it to you when I am finished.<\/h3>\n
