{"id":22311,"date":"2014-04-15T18:50:14","date_gmt":"2014-04-15T23:50:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=22311"},"modified":"2014-04-16T07:17:15","modified_gmt":"2014-04-16T12:17:15","slug":"shop-for-autism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=22311","title":{"rendered":"Shop to Support Autism Awareness"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>As an undergraduate and graduate student, I rode my bicycle across the country three times to help raise money for Habitat for Humanity. \u00a0Let&#8217;s just say I know cycling, and I love it. \u00a0Since living here in Syracuse, I have been able to once again put my biking skills to work in a new way each summer by teaching autistic children how to ride bicycles. Each volunteer in the week-long program is paired with an autistic child, and the end-of-the-week goal is to have each of the children riding on their own. \u00a0Through <a href=\"http:\/\/icanshine.org\">this program<\/a> I have been able to observe first-hand the challenges, obstacles, and fears both the parents and the children go through.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">April is Austim Awareness month, and many people know someone who is affected by the disorder. \u00a0The other day NPR had a story \u00a0about autism and said that now one person out of 68 is somewhere on the spectrum. I was shocked with those statistics, so I am thrilled to know <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/11B6KFR\">Stella &amp; Dot<\/a> is raising money for the cause. \u00a0I have been a Stella &amp; Dot representative since last spring, and I wanted to share with you what they are doing to help donate money to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollyrod.org\">HollyRod Foundation.<\/a>\u00a0This month all of the net proceeds made from selling items from \u00a0the Autism Awareness boutique will benefit the HollyRod Foundation.
