{"id":21926,"date":"2014-03-06T18:57:52","date_gmt":"2014-03-06T23:57:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=21926"},"modified":"2015-07-25T10:34:18","modified_gmt":"2015-07-25T15:34:18","slug":"roasted-brussel-sprouts-with-walnuts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=21926","title":{"rendered":"Brussel Sprouts With Walnuts"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>This\u00a0afternoon while I was taking advantage of old folks day at Kroger, I picked up the ingredients for the dish. \u00a0It was so good that Mr. Right and I ate it up. \u00a0I think you will put this one on your go-to list of recipes. \u00a0It is easy, nourishing, filling, and even pretty.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-21929\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Brussel-Sprouts-and-More-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"Brussel Sprouts and More\" width=\"614\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Brussel-Sprouts-and-More-1024x681.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Brussel-Sprouts-and-More-430x286.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>\u00a0BRUSSEL SPROUTS WITH SHALLOTS AND WALNUTS<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>1 \u00a024-ounce package of fresh brussel sprouts<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>1 tablespoon olive oil<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>4 green onions, chopped (Kerri used shallots)<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>2 cloves garlic, minced<\/h3>\n<h3>A pinch of salt and ground black pepper<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>1\/2 cup dried cranberries<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>1\/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>1\/2 cup blue cheese (Kerri used gorgonzola)<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar<\/h3>\n<h3>1 tablespoon or less of maple syrup<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Wash, remove any damaged leaves, and then quarter the brussel sprouts. \u00a0Chop onions and garlic. \u00a0Heat olive oil in a heavy skillet. \u00a0(I used my iron skillet.) \u00a0Add onions, garlic, and brussel sprouts. \u00a0Stir fry till sprouts are tender. \u00a0Remove from heat and add walnuts and cranberries. \u00a0Let cool slightly and then add blue cheese. \u00a0Drizzle balsamic vinegar and maple syrup over the top and then gently mix.<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>I think you could use feta or goat cheese if you prefer and a different nut, like pecans, would also work. \u00a0I even think some bacon diced and fried would be nice. \u00a0Then you could cook the veggies up in the bacon grease rather than olive oil. \u00a0That would put a down-home southern spin to it. \u00a0The bottom line is that you can use your imagination on this great recipe and truly make it yours. \u00a0Thanks, Kerri!!<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Have a great week-end.\u00a0 See you Monday.<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Take care!<\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This\u00a0afternoon while I was taking advantage of old folks day at Kroger, I picked up the ingredients for the dish. \u00a0It was so good that Mr. Right and I ate it up. \u00a0I think you will put this one on your go-to list of recipes. \u00a0It is easy, nourishing, filling, and even pretty. &nbsp;
