Well, howdy!!! \u00a0It’s so great to be writing a blog post again. \u00a0Jordan and I stock-piled three weeks worth of blog entries before we left. \u00a0Whew!!! \u00a0Well, almos<\/em>t three weeks worth. \u00a0Thanks so much to Amber<\/a> and Lauren<\/a> for guest-posting. \u00a0We hope you checked them out.<\/h3>\n

This headline is true. \u00a0The joke really is<\/em> on me. \u00a0I\u00a0 thought that we could go away to India (that was the Taj Mahal in yesterday’s photo<\/a>, by the way) and come back to crocuses blooming and spring in the air.<\/h3>\n

But instead, I’m looking at this out my window this March morning. \u00a0I remember, though, that when I was a ten-year old and in the sixth grade, my maternal grandmother died unexpectedly on March 4. \u00a0That day I wore shorts because it was so warm outside. \u00a0The next day it snowed 36 inches.\u00a0 Spring snows don’t normally hold back.\u00a0 They show us all they’ve got!!<\/h3>\n

So, to show spring who’s boss, I bought six daffodil blossoms at the grocery this morning.\u00a0 I am trying to force them to open, but these little blossoms just aren’t ready to wake up.<\/h3>\n

I paired the flowers with this antique post card that has a spring look to it.\u00a0 These old cards always bring a smile to my face, and I can usually find one in my stash that fits the message I’m feeling.<\/h3>\n

This paper mache box that I picked up on the last day of our trip also has a cheery, spring-like vibe going on.<\/h3>\n

Tomorrow they will probably be at their best, but today is just not the day they are supposed to be open.\u00a0 That’s okay.\u00a0 I’m a patient gal.<\/h3>\n

Even though I’m trying to force spring in the great room, this bowl of homemade tomato soup sans croutons (I used my girl Ina’s recipe here<\/a>), sure tasted fine.\u00a0 And as an aside, I have a new girl crush on a cooking show chef whom I discovered on our trip.\u00a0 Have you heard of Rachel Khoo (here)?<\/a>\u00a0 I ordered her cookbook<\/a>, and it was waiting for me when I got home.\u00a0 Oh, la, la!!!\u00a0 Can’t wait to get started on that one.<\/h3>\n

And before I go, I need to ask for your help\/suggestions. \u00a0It’s time to say adieu to the yellow paint on the guest room walls. \u00a0I’m ready to paint it a nice neutral with a touch of gray\/blue\/cream. \u00a0If any of you have a color you love, please leave its name\/manufacturer in the comments. \u00a0Thanks! Oh, do you see the hat hanging on the bed? \u00a0That belonged to my grandmother mentioned above. \u00a0It was her summer church hat, and she ordered it from the Sears-Roebuck catalog.<\/h3>\n
