{"id":2172,"date":"2011-05-19T06:45:35","date_gmt":"2011-05-19T11:45:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=2172"},"modified":"2011-05-19T06:45:35","modified_gmt":"2011-05-19T11:45:35","slug":"our-mr-murdock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=2172","title":{"rendered":"Our Mr. Murdock"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><em>Author: \u00a0Autumn<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>Mr. Murdock really isn&#8217;t a mister. \u00a0In fact he isn&#8217;t a he. \u00a0He is an it. \u00a0It is a faucet. \u00a0But it&#8217;s not just any ole faucet. \u00a0It&#8217;s a hydrant, a water <strong>hydrant<\/strong>. \u00a0And it&#8217;s not just a plain water hydrant. \u00a0It&#8217;s very fancy&#8230;.. in the world of hydrants. \u00a0They are used in places like horse farms, vineyards, and cattle ranches. \u00a0And, we are getting one for our courtyard. \u00a0Yikes!<\/h3>\n<h3>Here&#8217;s the back story. \u00a0When we asked our plumber to replace the 1980&#8217;s vintage (not in a good way), rusted, and ugly water faucet in the walled-in brick courtyard in our new digs, he jokingly suggested we get a Murdock. \u00a0&#8220;What&#8217;s that?&#8221; Mr. Autumn asked. \u00a0Our plumber explained that it is a heavy-duty, fancy, and well-built hydrant. \u00a0Mr. Autumn was sold. \u00a0So&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;we&#8217;re getting one. \u00a0It could possibly be the focal point and conversation piece for many of our future outdoor dinner parties.<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/image.shutterstock.com\/display_pic_with_logo\/584254\/584254,1271892126,6\/stock-photo-running-outdoor-water-faucet-at-a-campground-51473896.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"321\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">This is cleaned-up version of our old faucet.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">We have learned that the Murdock company that makes our new <del>faucet <\/del>hydrant has been around for over a century. \u00a0They were started to make water delivery systems in 1853. \u00a0 All of you autumns out there probably sipped water from a Murdock in your school&#8217;s playground or at your park when you were growing up. \u00a0Well, they are still going strong. \u00a0They even make fire hydrants.<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3033\/2652009147_d381edd60d.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"293\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">This is a Murdock public drinking fountain from the 1950&#8217;s. \u00a0Does it look familiar to any of you? \u00a0For you twenty and thirty-somethings reading this, we drank out of these loooong before bottled water became the in-vogue &#8220;water delivery system&#8221; .<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.markstaar.com\/images\/large\/murdock\/M-100.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"320\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">This is our Mr. Murdock. He isn&#8217;t that big, but he is that fancy.
