To Make Butter"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>My maternal grandmother died when I was 10 years old.\u00a0 Even though our time together was short, I have wonderful memories of her.\u00a0 She and my grandfather lived on a farm, and she had cows, chickens, pigs, and a garden.\u00a0 She was a &#8220;from scratch&#8221; cook.\u00a0 One of the things I remember her making was butter from the huge amounts of pure, organic cream she got from the cows.\u00a0 This week during a phone conversation with Mr. Right&#8217;s mother, she mentioned that my brother-in-law was making butter just for fun.\u00a0 It sparked one of my memories of Grandma, and I decided to try my hand at it, too.\u00a0 It is very easy, and I think you&#8217;ll agree.\u00a0 Just think how impressed your family and friends would be if you served them homemade butter.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">To make butter, you need one ingredient &#8211; heavy cream.\u00a0 All you do is pour the cream (I used three cups) into a large jar.\u00a0 If you want salted butter, add about 1\/4 teaspoon at this time.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">I wanted to be a traditionalist, and so, I decided to use the shaking method.\u00a0 My grandmother had a glass butter churn that she used.\u00a0 This would be the perfect activity for any teenager in your life.\u00a0 They would get the opportunity to work off some energy because the only thing you do is shake the jar.\u00a0 After half an hour of shaking, I only had whipped cream.\u00a0 It took my brother-in-law an hour to get butter, but I decided to go to plan B.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-21550\" alt=\"Making butter\" 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">I don&#8217;t have a teenager so I pulled out my Kitchenaid and poured the whipped cream into it.\u00a0 I mixed it on medium speed for just a few minutes, and butter appeared.\u00a0 This happens really fast.\u00a0 You have whipped cream and then bam!\u00a0 You have butter.\u00a0 See the milk product there?\u00a0 That&#8217;s butter milk.\u00a0 I poured it into a cup to drink later.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Next, I put water into the mixer to wash the butter by mixing it on low speed for about 30 seconds.\u00a0 This step is important so the butter will last longer.\u00a0 Remember this is pure and has no preservatives.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-21552\" alt=\"Making butter\" 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Then I put a paper towel in a strainer and poured the butter\/water mixture in.\u00a0 This was a great time to have a sink in my pantry.\u00a0 It really came in handy.\u00a0 When the water drained out, I squeezed the paper towel around the butter to get the remaining water out.\u00a0 I was surprised by how much there was.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">It made a big chunk of butter.\u00a0 Since we don&#8217;t use it all of the time, I will freeze half of it for later.\u00a0 Sometimes the butter we buy in stores is more yellow because food coloring has been added.\u00a0 Homemade butter is a creamy color.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">It has come in handy already.\u00a0 Mr. Right and I enjoyed a rare treat of buttered popcorn while we watched basketball games on television.\u00a0 I loved adding a dollop of butter to the top.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">After our big snow fall that same day, I walked to a new French bakery in our neighborhood and bought a loaf of eight-grain bread just so I could spread some of our butter on it.\u00a0 Yum.\u00a0 And by the way, that bakery makes me feel as if I&#8217;m in France.\u00a0 I will definitely be blogging about it.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3
