I Need Your Rug Advice\" href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2013\/03\/06\/help-i-need-your-rug-advice\/\">here<\/a>). \u00a0I actually didn&#8217;t even get to the painting stage because I stopped after applying a quart of primer. \u00a0Anyway, in case you forgot, below is what the rug looked like when I decided that project wasn&#8217;t working, but I didn&#8217;t give up!<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-16486\" title=\"Rug \" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Rug-long--682x1024.jpg\" width=\"409\" height=\"614\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Rug-long--682x1024.jpg 682w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Rug-long--215x323.jpg 215w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 409px) 100vw, 409px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><!--more--><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">I then came across something on Pinterest from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eastcoastcreativeblog.com\">East Coast Creative.\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0They made their own floor cloth by covering a rubber mat from Home Depot. A rubber mat works well because it is sold by the foot, and you can have it cut to your specific requirements. I knew they were on to something and thought it might just work for me. \u00a0I decided to skip the rubber mat step and just work with the rug that I had already ruined. \u00a0Thank goodness I didn&#8217;t get around to throwing it away yet. \u00a0<span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 14px; font-weight: normal;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-17548\" title=\"Iron fabric\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Rug-iron-1024x682.jpg\" width=\"614\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Rug-iron-1024x682.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Rug-iron-430x286.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">I bought some chevron fabric on sale at Hobby Lobby. \u00a0I went with chevron because I love the pattern, and I do not have one single chevron thing in my house. \u00a0Plus, the process is so easy that if I get tired of it, I can do a quick change.\u00a0First, I ironed the fabric.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-17547\" title=\"Fabric\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Rug-fabric-on-top-682x1024.jpg\" width=\"409\" height=\"614\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Rug-fabric-on-top-682x1024.jpg 682w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Rug-fabric-on-top-215x323.jpg 215w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 409px) 100vw, 409px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">After ironing, I put everything on my dining room table and followed the directions from East Coast Creative. \u00a0I applied spray adhesive to the rug and smoothed the fabric out on top of it. \u00a0I think I would leave this step to the end on the next go round.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-17550\" title=\"Poly\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Rug-poly-1024x682.jpg\" width=\"614\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Rug-poly-1024x682.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Rug-poly-430x286.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0Then came the fun part. \u00a0I started adding thin layers of \u00a0polyurethane. It was recommended to use a water based polyurethane so the fabric will not yellow. My fabric started to bubble up and come off of the rug a little at this point. \u00a0This is why I would do the spray adhesive step at the end. \u00a0I applied three thin coats and was sure to let it dry completely between coats.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-17554\" title=\"Spray adhesive\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Rug-spray-1024x682.jpg\" width=\"614\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Rug-spray-1024x682.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Rug-spray-430x286.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">After I did the three coats of poly, I redid the spray adhesive step. \u00a0I sprayed and then smoothed out the fabric. \u00a0I started in the middle and worked my way to each side, a section at a time.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-17552\" title=\"Rolling pin\" alt=\"\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">To really make sure I didn&#8217;t have any air and make sure the fabric was smooth, I used my pastry roller. \u00a0This was a great way to really smooth out the fabric. \u00a0If you do decide to do spray adhesive in the beginning, I recommend using the roller to help smooth out the fabric.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-17553\" title=\"After Roller\" sizes=\"(max-width: 409px) 100vw, 409px\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Here it is after the spray adhesive and before I secured the fabric to and pulled in the corners on the fabric.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" fabric tight. \u00a0I followed with duct tape to secure it really well.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">I pulled back all the sides, used spray adhesive, and then secured them with duct slide some so I will be adding some more caulking to the back\u00a0to help grip the floor like I did <a title=\"Quick Fixes\" href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2012\/03\/28\/quick-fixes\/\">here<\/a>.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"
