Happy Monday!\u00a0 Mom and I thought it would be fun to share an idea with you each day this week that will make your Thanksgiving day a little easier and a lot more fun.\u00a0 We are always together on Thanksgiving, and we have done these things in the past.\u00a0 They put some extra\u00a0 energy into the holiday.\u00a0 The first one is a real crowd pleaser and will please the hostess even more.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

My mom came up with a great idea a few years ago to take some of the pressure off of the cook around meal time.\u00a0\u00a0 This also serves as an ice breaker if any of your guests don’t know each other.\u00a0 It’s easy to put this together ahead of time, and it’s something the school-age kids can do for you.<\/h3>\n

First, buy a package of thirty foam turkeys at a craft store. \u00a0They also have glittered leaves that are cute.<\/h3>\n

Now here\u2019s the thing, and you all know this already. \u00a0Everybody always<\/em> offers to help when they come to your house for a meal. \u00a0And you probably always<\/em> say, \u201cOh, that\u2019s okay. \u00a0Just enjoy yourself.\u201d \u00a0They really, really<\/em> do want to help, but you don\u2019t know what to tell them to do. \u00a0I promise you, based on what I have observed at my mother\u2019s, your guests will be thrilled to have a task to do \u2013 99.9 per cent of them will, at least. \u00a0There is always that one person (you know who you are) who thinks it\u2019s a dumb idea and refuses to play. \u00a0So, you need to come up with a list based on your needs and how you prepare\/serve the meal.<\/h3>\n

OUR LIST<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

1. \u00a0Set the table. (We ask two people to do this and have everything ready for them to just set out).<\/h3>\n

2. \u00a0Put ice and water in glasses.<\/h3>\n

3. \u00a0Open and pour wine.<\/h3>\n

4. \u00a0Help put food on table.<\/h3>\n

5. \u00a0Say grace. \u00a0(I\u2019ll rig it so my grandmother gets this one. \u00a0She always likes to say grace).<\/h3>\n

6. \u00a0Help clear table.<\/h3>\n

7. \u00a0Take dessert orders and serve.<\/h3>\n

8. \u00a0Prepare dessert orders.<\/h3>\n

9. \u00a0Take coffee\/tea orders and serve.<\/h3>\n

10. \u00a0Prepare coffee\/tea orders.<\/h3>\n

11. \u00a0Help put food away.<\/h3>\n

12. \u00a0Be on stand-by. \u00a0(This person will do whatever needs to be done that I didn\u2019t anticipate.<\/h3>\n

I didn\u2019t make one for my mom or me because we will be finalizing the cooking in command central. \u00a0 \u00a0This will surely make your day go more smoothly. \u00a0And by the way, you can use the extra turkeys as coasters.<\/h3>\n
