Hi! I’m Heather from Southern State of Mind<\/a><\/span><\/b> and I am so excited to be here with you today! When Jordan invited me to guest post, I was thrilled at the opportunity! She is a girl after my own heart- fellow Georgia Bulldog who loves making a house a home.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

I absolutely love that Jordan and Janette use their mother\/daughter blog as a way to stay connected across the miles. My mom is also my partner in crime when it comes to anything related to crafting, thrifting and repurposing!<\/span><\/div>\n

Today, I am going to share a quick and easy “recipe”.<\/span><\/div>\n
Now, you must know that I am much more into house-tweaking than\u00a0<\/span>recipe-seeking, so this is a different kind of “recipe”!\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
When one of my co-workers recently bought her first home, I was over the moon for her! After years of moving and renting (we moved six times in our first five years of marriage), I love (finally!) being a homeowner and making our house a home. \u00a0My wish for her is that she has as much fun with her house as I have had with mine.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
To celebrate this occasion, I put together a little housewarming gift for her.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

If you are like me and not a great cook, this would make a great “welcome to the neighborhood” gift for a new neighbor as well! (What? You mean they wouldn’t appreciate a frozen Stouffer’s lasagna?!?!)<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
So instead of a recipe for a delicious meal, here is my “recipe” for a great housewarming gift in a jar:<\/span>

Easy Housewarming Gift Recipe:<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Ingredients:<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n
Glass Jar<\/span><\/div>\n
Dish Towel<\/span><\/div>\n
Meyers Hand Soap<\/span><\/div>\n
Festive beverage napkins<\/span><\/div>\n
Note card<\/span><\/div>\n
Raffia or ribbon<\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/span>
\nStart with an over-sized jar. \u00a0At Southern State of Mind, we kind of have a thing for Mason Jars. I really-really-really love this large-and-in-charge Mason Jar (half-gallon size), but really any large jar will do. (When I gave a similar gift to another friend when they purchased their new home, I used this<\/b><\/a> glass jar from Ikea.)<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span>
\nNext, stir sweet kitchen items into the jar. I like using consumables for this part. I remember feeling so overwhelmed with “stuff” when I was moving so giving consumable items is always a welcomed gesture.<\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span>
\nMix in a dish towel because a new kitchen calls for new dish towels. I used a blue and white striped dish towel (got this<\/a><\/span> <\/b>4-pack from Ikea).<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span>
\nThen, layer in some festive initial monogrammed beverage napkins (from Hobby Lobby)<\/i>. Your new home owner is now ready to be a fabulous hostess for a last minute get-together with friends.<\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span>
\nAdd a dash of delicious smelling Meyers hand soap. Seriously, who doesn’t love this stuff? My favorites are tied between Lemon\u00a0Verbena\u00a0and Basil, but went with the Lemon because it is more colorful (found at Target)<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span>
\nTo serve, add a hand-written congrats note and tie a raffia ribbon.<\/span><\/p>\n
