Hello, everyone.\u00a0 If you have been a regular reader of our blog, then you know about my 86-year-old mother who is quite talented.\u00a0 We shared with you the photos of her quilts<\/a> that she made for her grandchildren, and we also showed you the day we took her wine tasting<\/a>, and also one of the many crafts she has made for me<\/a>.\u00a0 I just spent that past few days with her and my 90-year-old father, and they were observing their 67th wedding anniversary.\u00a0 These two are quite they pair.\u00a0 They go camping, have a small garden, live on an acre of land that Daddy still mows and weed-eats, attend church and all of its activities regularly, go shopping and out to eat, and on and on and on.<\/h3>\n

Although she doesn’t have internet, she enjoys reading our blog every chance she gets, and she wanted me to show you photos of her garden.<\/h3>\n

They live in the country about an hour and a half west of Washington, DC.\u00a0 They are surrounded by beautiful mountains.\u00a0 Take a look at that view.\u00a0 They have lived in this house for 10 years after living in their original house, where I grew up, for 57 years.<\/h3>\n

In warm weather they spend as much time as possible on their back porch.\u00a0 Daddy has two bird baths and three feeders, and their backyard is a playground\/feeding center for every bird in the vicinity.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

This is their cat Sophie, who spends most of her waking hours watching the birds.\u00a0 The birds know she is harmless since the porch’s screen separates them.<\/h3>\n

One of the ornaments in my mother’s garden is this little stone house that my dad built when he was a little boy.\u00a0 I think it was a shop class project.<\/h3>\n

My mother has both annuals, like these petunias, and perennials so that she has color from spring through the fall.<\/h3>\n

Right now her lavendar is just lush with blooms.\u00a0 I brought some home to use in lavendar short bread cookies.\u00a0 I’ll be sharing that recipe with you on Friday.\u00a0 I would have brought home more, but the bumble bees love lavendar, and I was afraid they might get made at me for messing with their treats, if you know what I mean…<\/h3>\n

I loved how this orange butterfly bush looked next to the blue bottles on her bottle tree.\u00a0 No, she didn’t drink the wine.\u00a0 I bought the tree and the bottles for her.\u00a0 You can see that her shasta daisies will be blooming soon.<\/h3>\n

These two big pots of annuals sit in an old wooden wheelbarrow.\u00a0 This is a true country garden.<\/h3>\n

These two are my parents.\u00a0 Aren’t they cute?\u00a0 I call them Ken and Barbie.\u00a0 Happy Anniversary, you two, and I hope you have many more.<\/h3>\n
